Big5 Show

Something steamy

Palme, an Austrian manufacturer of shower cubicles, sanitary partitions and steam sauna partitions, will introduce its innovative steam shower Scala Relax, along with several other products at Dubai's Big 5 show 2003.

The Scala range of shower cubicles, embodies the essence of the phrase  'Less is more'  and relies heavily on the optimised integration of plain and smooth surfaces of glass and aluminium into classic and modern style surroundings.

In Scala Relax, the actual weight of the unit is borne by the prominent vertical elements, making the horizontal lines almost unnoticeable. Therefore the cubicle appears light and transparent. This impression is further reinforced by the use of a tent-shaped roof and the lack of a bowl. The floor of the room can be covered with one set of stone or tiles, thereby transforming the bathroom into an open and continuous space, rather than dividing it into two small separate parts.

Herbart Schwarz of Palme says that the tent-structured roof is an innovation, taking important elements of modern architecture into bathroom design. Glass and alloy make the technically and formally sustainable base of the Scala shower cubicle. The fabric of roof and seating, warmly contrast with the cool appearance of the main structure and the designer can choose colours to either complement the surrounding or contrast with it.

The company claims that the shower cubicle offers a number of functional improvements for users and technicians. Users find a simple but comfortable seat whose fabric offers the necessary comfort to enjoy the bath. It can be freely positioned along a rail, enabling variable seating heights by simply turning it around. While not needed, the seat can be stowed away in its vertical position by hanging it on the rail, he says.

Palme, which is making its appearance for the first time at the Dubai show, has a strong presence in the markets of Belgium, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Britain and Switzerland.
Palme is a quality-oriented manufacturer driven by a zeal for innovation and an absolute focus on the customer.

The necessary profiles, plastic parts and fixtures for all its products are developed in-house. Palme thus has numerous registered designs and patents at its disposal. Palme shower enclosures are characterised by their excellent functionality and clear design,  says the spokesman. Palme products generally employ aluminium profiles and are fitted with plastic or ESG safety glass. New glass designs, modern fittings and innovative handle solutions combine to form comprehensive product ranges with surprising details, suitable for all standard forms of shower base units.
