Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has been taking its Ecomondo expo on the road, with three international stops in Egypt, Serbia, and Poland ahead of the main event in November (4 to 7) in Rimini, Italy. The roadshow – which has already been to Cairo in Egypt and is headed for Belgrade in Serbia and Warsaw in Poland this month – aims to broaden the reach of the green, blue, and circular economy exhibition and strengthen connections between Italian companies and foreign markets.
The initiative, announced from the Rimini Expo Centre, seeks to give a preview of the content and technologies that will be showcased at the main Ecomondo event in November. The tour will also create networking opportunities and engagement with high-profile international operators and buyers.
The first stop was in Cairo on July 8 and was a collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Egypt, the Italian Embassy, and the Italian Trade Agency. The focus of the event was on the water cycle, bioenergy in agriculture, waste management, and energy efficiency, all key areas in Egypt’s National Climate Strategy 2050. The event included themed sessions and business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Egyptian stakeholders and Italian companies, building on the success of last year’s Ecomondo, where an Egyptian delegation of 40 top buyers held over 400 B2B meetings.
On September 9, the roadshow moves to Belgrade. Partnering with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the regional adviser MZ Consulting, the meeting will highlight waste management, solar energy, and water, which are rapidly growing sectors in the Balkans.
The final stop will be on September 11 in Warsaw. Here, IEG will host a “Green Grill” networking event with Confindustria Poland. The informal gathering will focus on biogas, plastic waste management, water treatment, and solar energy. The choice of Poland is strategic, as the country is making significant investments to modernise its environmental infrastructure using European funds.
Showcasing key themes
The roadshow’s topics mirror the seven main areas to be featured at Ecomondo 2025, which will include: Waste as a Resource; Water Cycle and Blue Economy; Sites and Soil Restoration; Bioenergy and Agriculture; Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring; Circular and Regenerative Bio-Economy; and SAL.VE, a biennial exhibit for ecological vehicles.
The main event will also feature specialised districts, such as the Blue Economy district for marine ecosystems, the Circular Healthy City for urban sustainability, Trenchless District, which will focus on No Dig technologies, the Paper District for sustainable paper design, and the Textile District for ethical fashion. The Innovation District will showcase applied research and host an expanded area for startups and scale-ups, along with the return of the Lorenzo Cagnoni Award for Green Innovation, which will be back to highlight the most advanced technologies in the various sectors represented.
A comprehensive conference programme will run alongside the exhibition, organised by the Technical Scientific Committee. Sessions will cover regulatory developments, ecosystem restoration, new forms of bioenergy, and the role of green technologies in the African context, with a special focus on Italy’s Mattei Plan.
Ecomondo 2025 is organised in collaboration with a wide range of institutional partners, including the European Commission, Italy’s Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, the ITA, and various national and international environmental associations.
