Austria-based Doubrava is set to introduce to the UAE market its innovative plant for the production of granules that conform to the new stringent environmental and building regulations of the UAE.

The plant, which has been designed to produce lightweight granules using desert dune sand, will be promoted at stand 7B360 at the Big 5 show.

Thermal insulation presents a challenge to the local masonry block manufacturers. The blocks must have improved thermal insulating values while being of relatively low weight, says a company spokesman.
To assist in this challenge, he says, Doubrava together with partners Kranzinger and Dambauer has developed process and production plant which produces sand granules with the following properties: granule fraction sizes from 0/2 mm, 2/4 mm, 4/6 mm and 6/10 mm; Low bulk density between 500 kg/cu m and 850 kg/cu m; highly thermal insulating properties; sound dampening; low practical humidity in constructions; environmental friendly.

The result is a 99.5 per cent local value-added product.
The company claims that the new lightweight granule can be used for a wide range of applications such as: aggregate for thermal insulating and light weight masonry blocks; aggregate for insulating prefabricated concrete elements; lightweight aggregate for insulating mortars and plasters; insulating and sound-dampening dumping under floors.

For more than 30 years, Doubrava has grown with the mortar/plaster industry in Europe and counts major producers of pre-mixed products among its customers.
Its experience in the field has resulted in a customer-specific design of the production plant, based on available raw materials and the desired product range.

The tailor-made plant design achieves the optimal investment/benefit ratio, he says. To suit the clients requirements, Doubrava offers machinery with low to medium production capacities as well as complete turnkey installations with the highest production capacities and the widest variety of pre-mixed products.
Doubrava also claims to have an ideal system to convey bulk materials across rivers, roads and factories, across forests and highways. The RopeCon system  allows extremely long conveying distances of up to 20 km. The carrying ropes are free-spanning between support columns and rigged at either end. Spacing between support columns can be up to 500 m.
