As in previous years, the German pavilion (supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour) will be one of the largest national pavilions at the Big 5 show 2003.
The participation has increased from about 80 last year to more than 130 exhibitors this time around.
German expertise and high-quality products from various sectors such as mechanical engineering, water technology and the building industry will be on display at its new location in halls 3, 6 and 7, a representative of the VDMA-German Engineering Federation Boris Abadjieff says.
German products, both in the area of investment and durable consumer goods, continue to play a key role at the exhibition and in the region. The strong presence of German companies is also reflected in the figures: Trade relations between the UAE and the Federal Republic of Germany have grown continuously. In 2002, Germany's overall exports increased by 6 per cent to $3,508 million, he says.
In this general export stream from Germany to the UAE, nearly 20 per cent or $646 million comprises capital goods in terms of mechanical engineering. The figures are higher while taking the plant construction manufacturers into account. The incoming orders from the UAE and Saudi Arabia have accumulated since 1993 to reach a figure of $2,860 million each.
Germany has a leading position in the investment goods as well as the durable consumer goods segment and it enjoys a reputation for its prowess in technology and design, Abadjieff adds.
To demonstrate the capabilities of German technology, the sanitary and bathroom industry will present its innovations within the German pavilion in hall 6.
