Bahrain recently marked a significant milestone in the regional leisure and tourism sector with the ground-breaking of the region’s first surf park to feature Wavegarden Cove technology,

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience will span over 52,000 sq m within the expansive 1.3-million-sq-m Bilaj Al Jazayer masterplan, a waterfront development encompassing public beaches, hotels, villas, and commercial spaces on its southwest coast of the island.

Developed by Edamah (Bahrain Real Estate Investment) and GFH Financial Group, Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience incorporates the state-of-the-art Wavegarden Cove technology from Spain, which is acclaimed for delivering up to 1,000 waves per hour.

The Wavegarden Cove lagoon can accommodate up to 90 surfers per hour, catering to all skill levels, from beginners to elite surfers. The wave-making technology is said to be the least energy-intensive of its kind, and the facilities will deliver a range of social and economic benefits to the local community.

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience comprises:

• A world-class wave pool, designed for all skill levels.

• A training academy, which offers comprehensive programmes for novice to elite surfers, delivered via the Club Hawaii Surf Academy.

• Lifestyle amenities, comprising food and beverage (F&B) outlets, a spacious terrace, a retail store, cabanas, event space, and a large private entertainment area for corporate or school groups.

Poullaides Construction Company (PCC), a leading contractor renowned for delivering large-scale, innovative projects, was awarded the construction contract and officially launched work on the project in early July.

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience is slated for opening in 2026, with plans to host a major international surfing competition the same year, further cementing its place on the global surfing and tourism map. The park’s design and operational ethos pay homage to Hawaii, aiming to create an inclusive, year-round destination for all ages and abilities.

This surf park will strengthen the kingdom’s position as a leading destination for leisure and entertainment while generating jobs, he added.

According to Hisham Alrayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group, the Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience project represents a milestone addition to Bahrain’s tourism landscape, offering a unique surfing experience for all levels within the unique atmosphere of the Club Hawaii Experience brand.
