Altaiseer Aluminium Factory (Talco), a leading aluminium extrusion company in the Gulf, is set to open a new powder coating line shortly and has also chalked up plans to expand its manufacturing facilities this year to meet the growing demand for its products in the region.
“Our current capacity is about 32,000 tonnes per year (tpy), using three extrusion presses imported from Europe. The company has plans to increase production capacity by end of this year to about 42,000 tpy by adding a new extrusion press, which will have the same high level of manufacturing capacity as our existing ones,” says a company spokesperson.
Located in the second industrial area of Riyadh, Talco has been engaged, since 1990, in producing aluminium extrusions from different alloys such as AA6060, AA6061, AA6063, AA6082, AA6005 and AA6351 and offers a variety of finishes including powder coating, anodising, PVDF coating and wood finish.
It markets its high quality products, which are produced in accordance to international standards and specifications, under the trade name of Talco. Within a short span of time, the company has acquired a wide customer base within the kingdom as well as in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and other countries of the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and other parts of the globe.
The company's project profile includes the Sport City Tower-Qatar, which was built for the Asian Games using Reynaers ME aluminium systems, Al Seal Tower with Alutec, Dolphin Tower, Laffan Tower, Al Nasr Twin Tower, Regency Tower and Al Jazeerah Tower, all in Qatar; Al Anoud Tower in Saudi Arabia; Khalidya Towers, Al Futtaim Tower, Capitol Tower and Dubai Mall, in the UAE; and Kuwait Trade Centre in Kuwait.
Talco also serves major systems suppliers in the region such as Reynaers ME, Euro façade system, Schuco system, Profil systems, Aluminco and other custom-designed systems.
In addition to its extrusion lines, the company has facilities to undertake decorative finishes used in architectural works such as powder coating, wood finishes and anodising as well as for thermal break systems. Its powder coating section has two vertical powder coating lines and one horizontal line, which are capable of applying polyester, super-durable polyester and metallic-finish polyester powder coatings that are durable and come in different finishes.
“Talco is committed to provide all the requirements of the aluminium industries under one umbrella. In this connection, the management has decided to incorporate and add a new horizontal powder coating line by mid-2008, which will have the capacity to process up to 9-m-long profiles in polyester powder coating and PVDF Kynar coating to complete the range of decorative surface finishes,” he says.
The company’s anodising section, AAF Anodising Finishes – which has the trade name of Alco – is equipped with a German equipment, fully computerised to provide consistency in anodising thickness and colour. Its wood finish department offers three different types of wood finishes – one being suitable for interior decoration and kitchen cabinets, and other two having nicely distributed wood grain lines, which is suitable for exterior and interior applications.
The thermal break division uses extruded profiles that have been joined together by two polyamide strips to prevent the heat and cold from entering inside the building, thus saving energy that would be lost through windows and doors, structural glazing and curtain walls. These polyamide strips, crimped by a rolling machine, are extremely strong and durable.
