Swiss sanitary solutions provider Geberit is launching a new, slim actuator plate which is expected to stand out from the crowd with its minimalist, contemporary design and panoramic format.
The Sigma40 flush actuator plates will be available across the Gulf region from this month (April).
The new Sigma40 flush plate, measuring just 4 mm in depth and available in a large selection of materials, is characterised by its sleek panoramic format in high-quality surface materials.
Sigma40 is slimmer, wider and shorter than a standard actuator plate, says Geberit. In addition to its minimalist, modern look, it offers a variety of design options in both square and round versions in a choice of materials, from brushed stainless steel in various colours through to glass finishes and coated steel in different colourways.
“The new Sigma40 actuator plate, which is exceptionally slim, is particularly appealing to discerning customers with a keen eye for design,” says designer Christoph Behling. “The high-quality craftsmanship is evident in the unique surface texture of the brushed stainless steel or the elegance of the glass coating. With such simple, minimalist designs, it’s crucial to pay close attention to the details. And that’s exactly what we’ve done.”

The refined snap mechanism of the Sigma40 ensures that the installation of the actuator plate is both simple and efficient. |
The process of making the actuator plate as thin as possible posed a number of challenges: “It was clear from the outset that the existing fastening system wouldn’t be compatible with such a thin plate,” recalls Pascal Brändli from the development team.
The solution came in the form of an innovative snap mechanism, which not only meets the requirement for minimal plate thickness, but also offers intuitive handling for the plumber.
To ensure the mounting frame offered the necessary rigidity and stability despite its depth of only 2 mm, the plastic was reinforced with glass fibres. “The insights we’ve gained will be extremely valuable for developing future actuator plates,” enthuses Brändli.
