Caterpillar will showcase a range of construction equipment and technology, including new electric vehicle upgrades, at the bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany, this month. Under the theme “The Next 100 Years”, the US construction and mining equipment manufacturer will display 48 machines, including 17 new product introductions or upgrades, over 9,000 sq m of exhibition space.
The exhibits will feature enhancements to its battery electric line-up, expansions of its Next Generation line, and additions to its demolition, waste handling, and recycling portfolios.
A central feature of the display will be the “Cat Performance Centre”, where vitors can simulate how upgrading their fleet with Caterpillar’s latest machine technologies can lead to significant reductions in fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The Performance Centre will also showcase the latest 301.9 mini hydraulic excavator and 906 compact wheel loader from Caterpillar’s battery electric offerings, as well as updates to the 320 and 950 GC prototypes, along with associated charging options. An electrified jobsite simulation will show data insights and energy flows that real-world customers are already benefiting from, thanks to Caterpillar’s ecosystem of electric innovations.
Tony Fassino, Caterpillar Construction Industries Group President, comments: “What we will show will be a fitting tribute to our heritage while demonstrating our commitment to building a safer, smarter and more sustainable world with our customers and dealers for the next 100 years. Alternative power sources, reduced carbon options, and integrated technologies are the future, and Caterpillar is ready to deliver this in collaboration with our global dealer network.”

Cat Command for Loading ... expanded to all medium wheel loaders, excluding GC models. |
Its experts will be on hand to demonstrate advancements to VisionLink, an integrated Cat solution for equipment management, operations management, and safety management. The expanded Cat Detect portfolio, including People Detection, Seatbelt Monitoring, Driver Safety System (DSS), and Collision Mitigation, will demonstrate how technologies can maximise safety and performance.
The full suite of Cat Grade offerings will be presented, including Cat Grade with 3D and Cat Payload for excavators. Cat Command technology will enable remote machine operation from a safe distance, with a demonstration of machines operating remotely from sites across Europe including at the Caterpillar Demonstration and Learning Centre in Malaga.
Caterpillar recently announced that its Cat Command for Loading has been expanded to all medium wheel loaders, excluding the GC models. Removing the operator from the machine, Command for Loading offers semi-autonomous remote control of next generation Cat 950 – 982 wheel loaders designed to increase operating safety in hazardous environments.
Compact equipment
Joining the compact equipment offering are three recently introduced Next Generation compact track loaders offering upgrades in engine power and torque, lift and tilt breakout forces, stability, operator comfort and technology.
The new D8 dozer will be featured, based on the Next Generation platform. Making its first appearance at bauma is the 140 AWD Next Generation motor grader. Still in prototype stage, this 20-tonne operating weight prototype machine consolidates two existing platforms into a common Next Generation platform for motor graders, providing customers more choices of features, technologies and configurations. The launch of the new MH3032 further expands the material handler line-up.
Further introductions to the demolition, waste handling and recycling portfolios include the new 330 UHD Ultra High Demolition hydraulic excavator. Also joining the line-up is the introduction of the variable angle goom option on the 340 VAB designed for demanding demolition sites.
In addition, Caterpillar will display two M323 Next Generation wheeled excavator machines, configured specifically for the railroad industry; as well as a new prototype Cat 775 off-highway truck and the reintroduced 395 front shovel – which features a Cat C18B engine and offers improved durability and extended service intervals. The 775 transitions to the Next Generation platform with increased truck body volume and was designed to deliver superior performance and efficiency.
