Jubail-headquartered Qanbar Dywidag Precast Concrete Company (QDC) is poised to spread westwards in Saudi Arabia and is looking forward to a turning point in its history as its sales catchment area grows to cover the booming cities of Jeddah, Yanbu, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk.

“We are expanding our reach to the Western Region. We see this as a positive turning point for us and will add another feather to our cap,” says Ahmad Sameh, marketing manager of the company.
Over the past year, the company has launched production at its second precast concrete factory in Jubail.
“Thanks to our second factory at Jubail, which began production in May last year, we are expecting a good output of precast concrete this year,” he adds. We are also studying the business potential in the Bahrain market, where we are already supplying our precast products from our headquarters in Jubail.”
Established in 1981 in Jubail, QDC is currently staffed with around 1,500 employees. The company offers complete precast solutions to the construction industry such as precast concrete elements, prestressed hollowcore and double-tee slabs, manholes and paving tiles, among other products, all of which are manufactured according to high-quality control and assurance standards such as ACI and PCI.
“We see a tangible growth in business volume this year and expect the trend to continue in the near future as the precast concrete industry is booming, with customers realising the benefits of using our products in building construction. The construction sector has benefited the most from the economic boom in Saudi Arabia with the influx of liquid assets having brought about massive infrastructure, business, and luxurious projects across the region,” he says. “The government has embarked upon a number of developmental activities in the fields of health, education, oil and gas and other sectors where there is very good scope for precast products. The private sector has also launched a number of large projects that are set for completion in the near future.”
QDC has numerous major projects under way including the supply of complete building systems for villas of Phase Five of the Bait Al Umar in Dammam and Al Khobar  as well as Phases Three, Four and Five for Saudi Basic Industries Corporation’s (Sabic) housing scheme in Jubail;  Khurais Central Project and CPF project for Saudi Aramco; sophisticated architectural panels for Dhahran Mall in Dhahran;  hollowcore slabs  and cladding panels for Al Othaim Mall in Dammam; and a full frame structure for Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery (Sasref) in Jubail,  King Faisal University (KFU)  & Prince Mohammed Bin Fahad University (PMU) in Al Khobar  among others.
Over the past couple of years, QDC has successfully added a range of projects to its impressive portfolio of completed orders, which include the supply of precast concrete elements for the Rabigh City main entrance gate at King Abdullah Economic City,  water injection pump stations facilities in Aindar and Hawiyah, Bayan Girls School in Al Khobar, a central warehouse complex at Khafji; Saudi Kayan Petrochemical complex in Jubail, Al Dabal  Tower as well as housing and private residences in Al Khobar, Jubail and other cities in Saudi Arabia.
It has also undertaken a number of projects for Saudi Aramco such as Khurais water injection facilities and utilities project comprising buildings outside the plant and new two Aramco substation at the Yanbu Gas Plant project as well as the GIS (gas insulated switchgear) building at Saudi Aramco’s substation at Shaybah.
QDC started off as a partnership between Saudi businessman Shaikh Abdul Razzak Mohammed Qanbar Al Ansari and one of the largest West German general contractors and precast concrete manufacturers Dycherhoff and Widmann (Dywidag), before it was bought over by Al Ansari Group in 2002. Since then, Dywidag has continued to provide technical support to the firm.
QDC provides a comprehensive range of products, serving as a one stop-shop for all precast and prestressed concrete requirements, right from standard precast concrete elements and products such as paving and interlocking tiles, manholes and seating, to external cladding panels, prestressed hollowcore and double-tee slabs, and precast domes, prestressed long-span girders, wall frames, beams and columns frame and boundary walls.
