BNORD Pavi 2000 will introduce its advanced technologies in concrete floorings to the Gulf market at this year’s Big 5.
The Italy-based market leader specialises in industrial and civil concrete floorings that includes ramps and airport paving. According to the company, its competitive edge lies in its ability to provide exclusively-designed industrial floorings with the help of advanced technology. A specialist department uses software to determine the resistance of the flooring during the design stage, thus eliminating planning mistakes and avoiding wastage of concrete.
The use of industrial flooring in civil buildings, in the form of semi-finished pavements that are ready for the installation of tiles, resins or parquet for shops and decorative finished floors for showrooms and malls, is gaining ground, says the spokesman for the company.
In addition, ramps leading to higher levels in buildings play a vital role in industrial flooring, says the spokesman. These ramps are made with a ‘topping’ system, in which the topping is applied green over green and is then pressed to obtain the ‘herringbone’ or ‘broomed’ finish, he says.
Another area where B Nord Pavi is active is airport paving and is a sector in which the company has outpaced its rivals in developing new processing technologies that are used to pave airplane parking aprons that will have to take enormous stress.
The company has been a leader in the laying of monolithic refrigerating paving without cuts for ice rinks for 15 years, marking a milestone in the field of ice-stadium design. After completing the Palavela and Palahockey ice rinks for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, B Nord Pavi designed and completed the flooring for the Minsk Arena, known as the ‘temple’ of sports on ice. The structure is the world’s biggest ice stadium with a surface measuring 13,262 sq m divided in two smaller structures – the Oval and the Arena.
The huge demand for industrial concrete floors encouraged B Nord Pavi to launch the new brand – B Nord Pavi Arts – developed exclusively to create concrete decorative flooring. It includes three key techniques: Flooracid, a treatment for concrete floors that will help obtain marble and natural stone effects; Floorengraving, which helps lend a tile effect to concrete and when used along with flooracid, makes it possible to engrave company logos, drawings and symbols on floors; and Floorpolished, a polishing process for new and old floors in topped or finished concrete. This again, in combination with Flooracid, can obtain a smooth and terrazzo effect.
The company realised the first building without waterproofing in 2005. This was achieved with a suitable treatment of the concrete with a silicate-based waterproofing product. “This product is a biochemically-modified solution that when spray-applied on cured concrete, works with concrete and makes it waterproof both in the matrix and in the cracks, which seal up autonomously,” the spokesman says.
This treatment was successfully applied over the 40,000 sq m of parking space at the international airport of Rome Fiumicino and it also passed the roof flooding test, performed to detect any seepage.
B Nord Pavi also used its potential in this field to pioneer work in concrete road paving in the European and the international markets.
At the show, B Nord Pavi will be present at Stand RH R-B239.
