THE US pavilion returns to The Big 5 this year with 30 companies exhibiting over a 200-sq-m pavilion in Hall 9 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
Organised by Clarkesmith International, the US pavilion made its debut at the show last year with 22 companies spread over an area of 144 sq m.
The companies will bring in a wide range of products including precast hollowcore machinery and mixers, radiant barrier sheathing, anchor systems for concrete, armoured doors, waterjet cutting systems, and digital laser template systems.
“The response from last year’s participants was very positive and of the 22 companies that participated, 15 are returning to this year’s event,” says Kate Clarke of Clarkesmith International, the US agent for the show. “This is the second year that American companies are exhibiting as a US Pavilion and we did expect a good growth.”
Some of the biggest space buyers at the US pavilion are APA – the Engineered Wood Association, bringing in more than 15 companies under its umbrella, and Custom Building Products, a first-time exhibitor from California.
Custom Building Products, strong and dynamic company specialising in installation solutions for tile and stone, will bring decades of international experience to the show. Other exhibitors include Designer Doors, Dunbarton Corporation, ICD Coatings Laser Products, MetCon Global Steel Framing System, Metropolitan Air Technology, Spancrete Machinery Corporation, Strong Tie, TL Doors, Unison Hardware, Voeller Mixers and Waterjet Service.
“American companies are renowned for pioneering new building materials and technology, setting high quality standards and offering competitive rates. With their emphasis on sustainable development and environment-friendly products and the UAE’s leadership role in setting green building guidelines and standards, US companies find this region an ideal market for their products,” says Kara Smith of Clarkesmith International.
Exhibitors from the US will be displaying a diverse range of products and services including wood products, concrete mixers and machinery, doors and fixtures, water jet products, coatings and more.
Commenting on the difficulties faced in selling space this year in view of the economic slowdown, Clarke says: “Companies are watching their budgets much more carefully this year so, yes, sales were much more difficult. However, we believe this is a result of the macro-economic situation, not necessarily a reflection of The Big 5.”
The company promoted the show via US state and national networks and newsletters, associations, and lots of direct phone contact.
The US pavilion will be at Hall 9, Stands C61, C71 and D71.
