Zamil Art Glass and Architectural Metalworks has been awarded a prestigious SR2 million ($540,000) project callling for a fire-rated steel curtain-wall at Al Diyafah Shopping Mall in Makkah.
"It is a challenge to complete the project in the coming few months with a new system of engineering and new profiles from the supplier Wright Style (UK) by using Fire Guard Glass from Zamil Glass," says Mohammed Khattab, general manager.
Zamil Art Glass adopted the same technology and engineering techniques in another fire-rated windows project - Aramco Core Area Annexe Building - by using a special fire-rated glass from a German glass supplier.
Zamil Art Glass has also achieved a milestone in new construction techniques with a contract from Al Mansouryah Contracting Company to supply stainless steel balustrading, mirrors and steel skylights using Heat Mirror glass, in the Qassim and Tabuk new "Imara" buildings.
A stained glass skylight will also be a major feature in the lobby of the Al Ahmady Hospital in Qatif.
"This pyramidal skylight combines unique artistic design, carefully selected coloured glass and the outstanding workmanship and quality for which Zamil Art Glass is famous for," says Khattab.
The company is anticipating a sales growth this year of 10 to 15 per cent, using new products and technologies.
Zamil Art Glass, a member of Zamil Architects Industries Group based in Dammam, has the technical and design experience to provide stained and decorative glass to rival the best in the world.

In addition, the architectural metalwork aspect of the company manufactures brass, stainless steel and titanium for cladding, balustrades, doors, screens and entrances. The metal framing system from Wright Style, UK, introduced recently offers unique solutions to the fire-resistant and security framing and glazing systems, says Khattab.
The company custom designs stained and decorative glass for individual clients. No design is repeated as the designs are tailored to every specific enquiry, he adds.
