Painting a room with the right colour can enhance creativity, imagination, health and temperament, says Jotun Saudia, a premier paints producer in the Kingdom.

Jotun emphasises a new dimension to colour - the power of association. And the best source of inspiration is Mother Nature. "Jotun has understood this concept very well. Pure and basic nature colours form the essence of the new, subtly blended 16 delectable shades from Jotun this year. With them, one can create the perfect coloured backdrop to highlight all your senses and emotions," says sales and marketing manager Lars Kjoele.

"Everyone knows that colour plays an important and significant role in our life. It can influence our thinking, communicate powerful messages and cause action and reactions. Colour soothes the eyes, lowers blood pressure and can suppress or increase appetite," he says.

"Imagine wandering through blueberry fields. One can recreate this atmosphere at home with Blueberry Blue, a new shade from Jotun Paints. This saturated chroma with a contemporary twist promotes an effective and immediate feeling of tranquility," he says.

"The new Kiwi Green is ideal for those seeking profound personal inner strength and soundness. Sumptuous and mystical, green conjures up visions of peaceful havens where one finds oneself in communion with nature. It has also been proven that green is beneficial in balancing feelings and emotions," Kjoele says.

He continues: ''Apple Green, a unified and orderly colour from Jotun, adds to feelings of serenity and calmness in a room. This colour promotes learning and productivity. Casual and modest, light green can feature as a focal shade in interiors. It is a symbol of equilibrium, harmony and the natural environment.

"Melon Yellow is a great choice from Jotun to enhance and deepen one's leisure moments. Warm, radiant and cheerfully intellectual, yellow has been known to strengthen and heighten analytical behaviour.

"But if one has a hot, flamboyant personality and is down right eccentric, choose red. It is responsible for stimulating activity. The warmest colour of the spectrum, it is energetic and impulsive, sensuous and passionate. Hence it is a shade that should be handled with caution. Choose Stone Red to encourage conversation, motion and vitality.

"Digestive Orange is a shade that guarantees a positive and festive atmosphere in a room. Intense, vital, rich and audacious, orange promotes celebration, happiness and enjoyment.

''These colours are part of the 16 colours available in Jotun's Fenomastic Gold and Fenomastic ranges at its Multicolor centres. Whatever one's inclination or personality, Jotun has the perfect colour to harmonise the personal quest at its Multicolor centres.''

Jotun Saudia has a total of 46 Multicolor centres in the Kingdom and intends to open a few more in the near future. Jotun Saudia, which started production in 1985 in the Light Industrial Park of Yanbu, has branches in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. Its total production capacity is 12 million litres. During the last 15 years, Jotun Saudia has gained great confidence in the Saudi market as a result of its high product quality and exceptional technical service, he says.

Jotun protection and colours are reflected in Saudi airbases, airports, shipyards, refineries, shopping centres, palaces, mosques, compounds and many others.

Some of its recent projects include the Umm Al Qura University (Phase III) in Makkah; and the Al Safi Towers, Al Khayat Tower and Al Salaam Hospital, all in Jeddah.

"Jotun Saudia was the first paint company in the Middle East to introduce Multicolour tinting technology and, today, is the leader in decorative paints in the Saudi market. This system can give a choice of 16,000 colours and can also determine the shade of any non-transparent solid surface by colour scanning and transform that colour to paint in moments," says Kjoele.

"Jotun Saudia is the first paint company to be awarded ISO 9001 in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Jotun's total commitment to quality in every aspect of its operations," he adds.

Giving a tip on changing the atmosphere inside homes, Kjoele says: "The quickest and cheapest way to change the look of the interiors is to paint them. Be it a living area or a dining room, a home office or a bedroom, colour enhances your decor, stimulates one's mind and challenges the senses.

"Even if a single wall is painted, its look will change forever. The coloured wall will serve as a focal point and will inspire one with so many ideas," he says.
