Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence and Aviation, recently inaugurated a number of projects in various regions of the Kingdom. These include:
The SR12 million ($3.20 million) King Fahd Mosque in Najran, which can accommodate 3,000 worshippers; The new SR352 million Saudi German Hospital, near the Trident Hotel at Khamis Mushayt in the Asir region. The five-storey building contains 400 beds; The main water reservoirs, the expansion of the vehicles depot project, and a family medicine headquarters at the King Faisal Military City; A 150-bed Abha private hospital, which was built at a cost of SR150 million; and, Two sports and cultural halls at the fourth air defence complex in Khamis Mushayt.Riyadh: A task force entrusted with drawing up guidelines to allow the private sector to finance construction of government-run schools has recommended a number of measures to implement the scheme.
The task force approved a number of proposals prepared by a subcommittee including modalities for raising money, duration of the project and the terms of leasing the buildings to the government, according to the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
Makkah: Work on a SR395 million ($105.32 million) power transmission station for the Saudi Consolidated Electricity Company (Sceco) has been completed in Jalil Valley in Makkah.
Yanbu: Projects worth SR726 million ($193.58 million) have been launched in Yanbu by Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz, Amir of Madinah, during his recent visit. They include:
The Steam Generation Unit No 4 to be constructed at a cost of SR400 million which will have a generation capacity of 130 MW;The construction of No 6 Power Distribution Centre at a cost of SR180 million to supply 6,500 housing units; Installation of a SR55.4 million electrical distribution system to connect station No.12 and the related power grid;A public works contract valued at SR45 million to cover the construction of a road network, water and drainage system; andThe construction of two schools - primary for boys and intermediate for girls - at a cost of SR26 million to be completed in 24 and 27 months, respectively.
