
After almost a decade of providing fire safety solutions in the Kingdom, Heba Fire & Safety Equipment Company (Hefsco) is planning to expand beyond the Saudi borders.
"We are in the process of branching out into one of the Gulf countries. We are hoping to achieve this during this year," says Ahmed N Razzaz, commercial manager.
Hefsco, set up in 1990, is in a major player in the business of fire and safety within the Kingdom with offices in Dammam, Yanbu, Jeddah, Riyadh and Jubail. It has a workforce of 300 skilled people.
Heba Engineering, started in 1992, is one of the key divisions of the company with branches in Riyadh, Jeddah and Jubail and a work force of 150 people. "This experienced and talented workforce uses high-tech software and is backed by expertise from our principals," says Razzaz.

Heba has completed 86 projects - large and small - worth more than SR10 million ($2.72 million) throughout the Kingdom last year, says Razzaz.
During 1999 and through the first quarter of 2000, Heba meticulously designed, supplied, installed, tested, commissioned and upgraded complete fire alarm and protection system for National Industrial Gases Company (NIGC).
The works covered NIGC's operations in Jubail (worth SR3.1 million); Yanbu (SR1 million) and NIGC/AHG - Phase (SR1.3 million).
"Business over the past year has been very tough compared to previous years probably because of the worldwide economic crisis and the impact of rise in oil prices. However, we are positive that business will be fruitful this year and we are willing to face the challenges in order to succeed," says Razzaz.
Commenting on the situation in the construction market of the Kingdom, he says: "The construction scene in Saudi Arabia looks very promising. We have seen buildings coming up in the key cities. Remote areas will also follow before long."
