State of the art ... MEP machinery and its production facilities.

Italian steel reinforcement processing specialist Macchine Elettroniche Piegatrici (MEP) plans to make a lasting impression on the Middle East markets when it arrives at this year’s Big 5, with an audio-visual presentation of its range of products and solutions.

Armed with more than 50 approved international patents, a 250-strong workforce spread across the seven companies of the group and 33,000 sq m of factory space, the company hopes to reinforce its position as a leading player in the reinforcement arena and gain a firm foothold in the regional market.
“The MEP Group comprises seven companies engaged in supplying machines and complete installations for the steel reinforcement segment within the building and construction industry, all of which are characterised by unique and innovative technical solutions in their fields,” says a company spokesman.
“Established in 1967, MEP revolutionised all the working methods adopted at that time by producing the first automatic stirrup bender in the world fed from coils instead of bars, thus contributing to the birth of a new entity in the sector: the dedicated rebar shop which specialises in processing steel for external clients,” says the spokesman.
“This marked the emergence of a specific segment of the industry which specialises in the processing of steel for the reinforcement sector. Hitherto, the processing took place on construction sites with the use of traditional machines such as bench benders and cutters.”
“MEP Group, which includes companies such as MEP, Beta Systems, Omes and others, produces plants characterised by exclusive patented solutions ensuring high productivity and flexibility for wire processing in the reinforcement industry,” he says.
MEP’s product range includes: stirrup benders, rebar cut-and-bend plants, cage and pre-cage assemblers, straightening and cutting machines and lattice girder, mesh and cold rolling plants.
The company will be present at the Big 5 at stand 5F240 which it will promote its entire product range.
“Our highly qualified sales personnel will be on hand to meet and assist our visitors,” the spokesman adds.
