Big 5 Show

The cutting edge

Innovative and award-winning power tool accessory manufacturer – Armeg – plans to demonstrate its range of porcelain tile cutters (PTC) at this year’s Big 5 show.

“The range of small- and large-diameter cutters, which have been recently introduced by the company, is a complete solution to drilling into porcelain tiles and other hard materials,” says a company spokesman.
“The PTC range has been endorsed by Villeroy & Boch, a leading tile manufacturer, as well as several leading manufacturers and installers of fixing and bathroom accessories.
“In addition, the product is being specified by leading UK shower manufacturers to all their contractors to ensure that the products are installed efficiently and to the highest levels of quality,” he adds.
Armeg claims to have developed its PTC after having closely understood the demands of the industry.
“We have developed the range after listening to those involved in the tiling and plumbing trades and after witnessing the huge rise in popularity of porcelain tiles,” says the spokesman.
“This has allowed the company to develop a product that is capable of drilling through porcelain tiles - be it for the installation of shower units, shower doors, sinks and all other fixtures and fittings associated with bathrooms and kitchens.”
Armeg’s PTC range consists of:
• Small diameter, uniquely ground carbide-tipped drill bits for fixings sizes. The carbide drill tip incorporates diamond ground precision-tip geometry and consists of P100 carbide, specifically designed for this application.
•  Large-diameter, diamond-crowned cores for piping sizes and through holes. The diamond-crown cores utilise a special water-feed adaptor that enables coolant to be fed directly to cutting face.
Based in Sheffield, England, Armeg is backed by over 30 years of experience in the sector and claims to be the UK’s only manufacturer of SDS Plus and SDS Max drills. The company also manufactures a range of hammers, rotary and core drilling products for trade professionals.
In addition, Armeg has specialised in and won numerous awards for developing innovative trade solutions to difficult and time consuming applications, says the spokesman. Products such as the electrical box sinker and the channelling chisel for the electrical trade; and sub-floor access cutters for the house-builder, plumbing and electrical trades are two notable examples, he adds.
