Alumco – which prides itself as a market leader within the facade industry – has set its eyes on improving business prospects in the region in general and in the Kuwait and Qatar markets in particular.
Alumco is working with high-quality European aluminium systems suppliers – two of which are Installux-France and Aluka-Italy. These system suppliers are well known in Europe and have supplied high-quality products over many years, which has all been tested and certificated in the Middle East.
The company has teamed up with US-based consultant in facade design, CDC (Curtain Wall Design), to deliver innovative concepts in design to prestigious projects, its past exploits being the Emirates Towers , Burj Al Arab and Dubai Airport.
“Challenging projects such as these call for products that are hi-tech, of international standard, are produced following research and development of new designs, and fabricated to match innovative building styling,” says managing partner Samer Barakat. “This shows our ability to deliver quality, technologically advanced products.”
Some of the projects under way in Dubai include the Al Murooj Complex, The Residences at Burj Dubai, Dubai Police headquarters, Golden Sands Tower, Marina Tower and the Al Shaza Tower. Being developed by Al Sayyah, the work on the 40-storey Al Shaza Tower at Dubai Marina, included the installation of a total of 36,000 sq m of curtain wall and composite cladding. “The project showcases our partnership with CDC. For this project, we are delivering unitised facade system, which is factory-assembled in a controlled environment and is installed at site. The solutions we offer to clients’ problems are derived from our large and skilful in-house engineering team. This sets us apart from most of our competitors who can deliver only stick system,” says Barakat.
“We not only deliver solutions to the exacting demands made by our clients, but deliver on time as we have done recently for the Residences at Burj Dubai. This is another instance of rising to the challenge in Dubai’s construction industry today – which is growing at great speed.
“While working and delivering in a challenging market with tight deadlines, we have proven our capability of maintaining quality and offering, creative, solution-oriented product,” Barakat adds.
“Our prime business and specialty is the design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation of all types of facade systems, covering all types of products from advanced to traditional curtain wall systems, and cladding systems,” he says. “Utilising local and international systems, the company has been offering the most up-to-date technologies and meeting international standards.”
The company, which has been targeting the medium and high ends of the market, has ultra-modern factory facilities equipped with the most up-to-date machinery. It offers a range of solutions including: curtain walls, skylights, aluminium composite and stainless steel cladding, doors and windows as well as double glazing, tempering and powder coating services.
The factory for aluminium alone has an approximate floor area of 3,000 sq m.
With a staff and labour strength of approximately 500, and signed contracts of Dh100 million, the company has been forging ahead in the midst of stiff competition, through closely following a policy of continuous development and technical innovation.
Alumco’s dedication to progressive solutions and technologies is apparent in its being awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification. “Our concern about quality makes us stand apart. We firmly stand by our commitment to progress and quality through self-monitoring and through a certification body too,” he concludes.
