Big 5 Show

Extenda, the trade promotion agency of the Andalusia region in Spain, will put the spotlight on 14 companies dealing in construction materials and natural stones at this year’s Big 5 show, making it by far the biggest Andalusian presence in the region.

“This massive representation from Andalusia simply highlights the importance that Extenda attaches to the Middle East market,” says Julio Moreno, director general of Extenda.
He continues: “We have chosen Andalusian natural stone and construction material for the Middle Eastern market as they have a lot to offer both in terms of quality and experience in developing hotels and tourist resorts. The Andalusian tourist tradition has given companies a wide knowledge in every aspect of building hotels. Surely, these companies can make their impression on the hotel and resort building sector here.
“For some years now, there has been an unprecedented boom in the construction markets in the Middle East, and the Big 5 show will be a suitable platform for our Andalusian companies to capitalise on this emerging market where their products and services have great potential,” he adds.
Out of the 14 exhibitors, Macaedis, Iberina, Airzone, Nevaluz, Dinotec, Monfri, Techos Moviles, Poyatos and Atarfil will be showcasing their products in Hall 2 while Crumar, Andalucia Stone Group, Marmolarte, Cosentino and MG will exhibit at the Sheikh Rashid Hall.
Showcasing their latest products and services at the Big 5, will be:
• Macaedis – producer of urban natural stone furnishing including display flower boxes and benches;
• Iberina – manufacturer of diamond cutting tools for the natural and artificial stone industry including diamond discs,  crowns and milling cutters as well as machinery for cutting and perforation;

“All of these different products are examples of the variety offered by Andalusian building materials,” says Moreno.
“While Andalusia does project a traditional image as an agriculture and tourism intense region, it is a place with resources of all types. Industrial and construction companies represent 22.98 per cent of the region’s productive structure,” he points out.
Elaborating on the Andalusia region, he says: “The construction sector in Andalusia is one of the most dynamic and contributes 10.6 per cent to its gross domestic product (GDP). The construction material sector has experienced a constant growth during the recent past on account of increasing exports to markets abroad.
“Andalusia has become Spain’s most important producer as its natural stone has established a niche in international markets. This is a testimony to the quality, experience and know-how of Andalusian producers who are applying the latest technologies.”
Andalusia can offer the best quality and know-how of natural stone products for flooring and walls, as well as of marble craft, Moreno says.
Apart from these firms, companies in the region also have specific strengths in the following sectors: production of paving and coating, enclosures, bathroom fittings, construction and machinery equipment, lifting systems, electric equipment and auxiliary products, among others.
