Big 5 Show

Stones on show

In the stone ... art of landscaping

Stone Gallery, a leading Dubai-based stockiest supplier and exporter of stones, is planning to cash on the boom in the regional construction industry through putting on display its wide range of products and services at the Big 5 show.

“The show last year – when we had participated along with our associate – was pretty good and we received an overwhelming response,” says Vishal K Lakhani – director.
“But this year will be the first time when we will be presenting our products independently and we will be looking for even better opportunities. We intend to introduce several new product lines to the fast-emerging Dubai market at our stand SH A508.”
“The Big 5 show is an excellent event and has remained one of the best avenues to market products and to create new business opportunities,” he continues. “The show is a window to the international market especially the GCC countries. There are major players taking part in this exhibition, so why be left out?”
Elucidating on what would be new at the company’s stand, sales manager Elias Barnabas says: “We would be introducing our range of products for internal and external flooring needs at this Big 5 show.
“We are targeting a new market and would like to provide more options and quality products to the existing clientele and the GCC countries.”
The company, with a staff strength of more than 200 dedicated individuals, has been promoting itself as a one-stop shop for all both internal and external landscaping products.
Established in 2001, the company is an associate of Captain Marble Cutting – which was founded in 1994 – and has a head office, showroom and factory at Al Quoz.
Its office complex is a “gallery” offering hard landscaping and different tile options that dress the entire floor space of the outlet, taking designers, homeowners, architects and contractors on a reality tour through the products and solutions the company has to offer.
“The Gallery has a variety of marbles, as well as slate, sandstone both in tiles and crazy pattern, mosaics in different designs, colourful cobblestones, shades of terracotta, quartzite, travertine, limestones, water features, pebbles of different colour, texture and sizes, artifacts, garden ornaments like sundials, stepping stones, sandstone table and benches, bird baths, pots, pillars, and decorative screens to choose from,” he says.
“Stone Gallery is the authorised agent and stockiest for a range of international brands that include: Kusser Aicha Granite Works, Germany (floating sphere and objects); Cehimosa, Spain (Spanish terracotta).
Jose Sabiote Fernandez, Spain (bathroom furniture); Arcadian, UK (range of fountains)
Troas, Turkey (natural stones and rocks); and Metallica, India (polished slates and mosaics).
“Our focus is more towards the local market and the Middle East and countries in Europe, Asia and Africa,” says Lakhani. “Over the years, there has been a tremendous growth in the construction sector in Dubai alone, on account of the numerous freehold properties and major iconic projects. The UAE government has shown a great commitment to ensure that this industry continues to be one of the major areas to propel economical growth.”
Speaking on the company’s expansion plans, Lakhani says: “There have been significant developments within our company and we are planning to set up another showroom, working with other partners and showrooms to market, increase sales and educate customers about stone and stone care.
“In line with our policy to continue providing innovative products, we plan to expand our existing showroom showcasing a variety of related products for landscaping. We are also working on new ventures with other companies, and expanding our factory and stockyard capacity.”
“We have started door-to-door sales and delivery, which is proving to be beneficial to customers who do not have the time or are not aware as to where to shop for their requirement,” he adds.
The company has completed few of the prestigious projects that include: a floating sphere at Emirates Towers Hotel; water feature in Building 8 at Media city; landscape work for the Phase II of the Royal Mirage Hotel; Barracuda Resort at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel; landscaping granite works for Coral Beach Resort and the expansion of the Dubai Creek for the office of HH the Ruler’s of Dubai.
It has also handled a number of villa projects at the Meadows and Emirates Hills.
