After an extremely successful innings at last year’s edition of the Big 5, Malta — the small island nation in the Mediterranean sea — will be back again with a larger pavilion that will showcase the product line-up of 10 companies in the building materials and related sectors.
Malta Enterprise, Malta’s exclusive agency responsible for global trade and investment promotions will be co-ordinating the participation of these Maltese companies at the trade show.
“Most of our companies that participated last year have successfully clinched orders from various clients in the UAE and other Gulf countries. New companies will be present for this year’s edition and the range of products on display will be expanded to include aluminium and wrought iron works, frames and framing equipment, room energy management systems specifically designed for hotels, environmental control equipment, whirlpool fittings and components, cable stripping tools and other products in the building materials sector, particularly for the production of concrete products,” says Dennis Vella, stand director of the Malta pavilion of last year’s Big 5.
Malta’s exports to the Gulf countries reached $49.4 million last year with the UAE having been the main market for its exports to the Gulf, representing around 27 per cent of the total exports to this region. “Though Malta is a small country and well known for its tourism, it has one of the highest exports per capita in the world with a wide range of manufactured goods and services being exported to Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East,” he says.
“With the help of the services provided by the Malta Trade Centre in Dubai, more and more Maltese companies will now successfully penetrate the markets of the Gulf and hence expand the range of products exported. The Malta Trade Centre provides information on suppliers from Malta and business opportunities for trade and investment purposes,” says Anthony Tabone, Malta Consul General in the UAE.
Malta’s pavilion will be located in Halls 3 and 4 at the Big 5 show. Further information about Malta and the business opportunities offered is available from the Malta Enterprise Stand 3D111A in Hall 3.
