Quality supplier

Mac Al Gurg, a leading Dubai-based supplier of high-quality construction materials, has boosted its portfolio of products with the addition of the DN300 self-anchoring pipe fittings from the UK-based Viking Johnson product range, a renowned pipe-joint and repair product supplier which provides the complete pipe jointing solutions to the global markets.

“Viking Johnson is recognised as an innovator within its industry sectors and continues to develop new product innovations as it responds to the changing nature of its marketplace.  One such development is the addition of the DN300 12-inch-size product to the patented FlexLock range of self-anchoring pipe couplings and flange adapters — a cost-effective, simple and quick alternative to on-site welding, harnessing or thrust blocks,” says Graham Tate, marketing manager of utilities (water and gas) of Viking Johnson UK.
Suitable for ductile iron or steel pipes, FlexLock has stainless steel teeth moulded into the gasket that grip the outer surface of the pipe as the bolts are tightened.  This prevents pipe pull-out under pressure and yet allows for angular deflection, making the fittings ideal for pipes installed above ground level or in soft ground, he adds.
”Uniquely, joints can be dismantled and refitted repeatedly simply by replacing the gasket – which is especially useful on temporary pipe-work,” Tate points out.
Now available in nominal sizes from DN50 (2-inch) up to DN300 (12-inch), FlexLock couplings and flange adaptors have pressure ratings of 16 bar from DN50 to DN200 and 10 bar from DN250 to DN300.  Couplings can accommodate total angular deflection of +/- 6 degrees (+/- 3 degrees for flange adaptors).
To ensure protection against corrosion and damage during handling, all of its components are coated with the thermoplastic polymer Rilsan Nylon 11, which meets WIS 4-52-01 (Part 1) performance standards.  Nuts and bolts are coated with PTFE Sheraplex in accordance with WIS 4-52-03.
Mac Al Gurg, which has been in operation for more than 25 years, has built up a good product knowledge and strong working relationship with Viking Johnson. In recognition of the growing market in this region, Viking Johnson last year established a local office in Jebel Ali in the UAE, with an international sales manager available on a full-time basis to provide full back-up service.
“Our primary marketplaces are the water, gas and industrial markets around the globe to which we have been supplying high-quality pipe products for more than 75 years through an international network of distributors and agents, who provide the end-customers with an invaluable local service,” says Tate.
Viking Johnson, a trading division of the UK-based Crane Limited, is a world leader in the supply of pipe couplings and repair products. It operates and maintains a quality management system accredited to ISO 9001, and an environmental policy accredited to ISO 14001.
