Genie spins magic

Genie AWP Super Series ... easy to use, both indoors and outdoors.

Under the Terex Equipment Middle East umbrella, Genie Industries will be showcasing some of its latest products at the Big 5 PMV show following a high successful debut at last year’s Big 5 exhibition.

Some of the products on display will include the GTH-4017 high-reach, rough-terrain telehandler, the Genie aerial work platform (AWP) and the AWP portable personal lift, the SLA portable material lift, the GR-20 Runabout, the Genie GS1932 and GS3246 self-propelled electric scissors, and the Z-60/34 articulating boom.
Terex-owned Genie is currently eyeing the burgeoning construction markets of the Gulf where it opened a new office in Dubai — Terex Equipment Middle East — last February. The new office works closely with local dealer MBM (Modern Building Material Trading) in Dubai, to distribute a range of small aluminium lifts made by Genie, to individuals and companies.
Genie Industries is renowned for its wide range of self-propelled booms and scissors, trailer-mounted booms, portable lifts, tele-handlers and light towers. The first types of portable personnel and material lifts used in the UAE and Bahrain were super straddles and lift loaders in 1984, and currently, the most popular products are the Superlift Advantage (SLA) and the aerial work platform super series (AWP Super Series) due to their ease of use and ability to be used on a wide variety of job sites, says a spokesman for the company.
“There are 1,400 ongoing construction projects in the Gulf alone, according to a report published last year, with new projects being announced every week. With the high volume of construction work going on in the Middle East, we expect to see continued growth in the sales of both the SLA and AWP Super Series products,” explains Brad Abrahams, regional sales manager for Dubai-based Terex Equipment Middle East.
“The smaller aerial lifts offered by Genie are easy to use and cost effective, making them the ideal option for a wide range of applications. One person can easily set up these machines and get to work within minutes, providing an all-around tool for almost any access application. The lightweight and compact design of the Genie AWP lifts means they can easily be used inside buildings, like schools and warehouses. They also provide solutions for working outdoors on large construction sites and on high-rises,” he explains.
Abrahams continues: “One of the design goals of the Genie range of aerial lifts is to enhance productivity in the workplace. Flexible features on the AWP, IWP, DPL and Runabout models offer convenience at a low cost. The lightweight construction of these machines makes them easy to manoeuvre, use and transport, delivering maximum uptime. In addition, each model offers a variety of options and accessories to customise your machine.
“All units roll through standard doorways for easy access and models up to 9.1 m don’t even need to be tilted back. An exclusive six-point wheel and caster rocker base system also manoeuvres easily around corners and over threshold or debris.”

Superlift Advantage
The SLA, one of the most popular aluminium products in the region, is a manually-operated material lift with a multiple base, winch and load handling options to create the lift required. The compact, portable design can roll through standard single doorways and loads easily into a pickup truck. It also lifts up to 454 kg of material to heights of up to 3.49 m and 295 kg up to 7.94 m.

Runabout
The Genie Runabout, also known as the GR, is a compact, low-weight machine that is well suited for increasing productivity. Its efficient operation and convenient set-up makes it ideal for warehousing, stock-picking, transporting, inventory management, general maintenance and construction. In the Middle East, the Genie Runabout is being used in many hotels, trade centres and malls.
The GR features include zero inside turning radius, 30 per cent gradeability, a spring-applied hydraulically-released brake system, and 25 cm (10 in) non-marking solid rubber tyres. The unit is also drivable when fully elevated for increased productivity. The platform controls on the GR are equipped with on-board diagnostics, and its auxiliary platform lowering ability enables descent in the event of a power failure. The proportional lift and drive controls provide a smooth ride, while its hinged rear covers allow easy access to all major components for convenient servicing.

AWP Super
“Genie AWP Super Series is an industry favourite due to their ease of use, convenience and flexibility. Lightweight manoeuvrability and durable design make them a versatile option for a wide variety of rental, light-duty construction and maintenance applications. The unique rear mast pivot bar and lightweight design allow the machine to be easily loaded into a pickup truck. Outrigger storage and forklift pockets, tie-down attachment points and an overhead crane attachment point add transportation convenience.
“The AWP Super Series is most commonly used in the region for facilities management. We have experienced great demand in the retail, hotel and exhibition centre sectors for this product. With working heights ranging from 8.12 m to 14.29 m, not to mention its compact size, this series is ideal for those sectors,” adds Abraham.

IWP Super
These lifts can be easily moved around a worksite and set up in seconds. In addition, all AC and DC models are equipped with an auxiliary platform-lowering feature on both the platform and ground controls, enabling descent in the event of a power failure. Reaching heights of 11 m, this range comes in two base models of standard or wide, with six different platform options to meet the specific requirements of your application.

DPL Super
A cost-effective option, these versatile machines combine tight access manoeuvrability with ample space for a worker and his tools on the larger platform. They also offer exceptional stability with a patented aluminium mast system, heavy-duty lifting chains and a welded steel base that stands up to tough job site conditions.
Since its establishment in 1966 with the introduction of the Genie Hoist, a portable, pneumatic material lift, Genie Industries has grown in stature to become globally recognised for its material lifts and aerial work platforms. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington in the US, the company remains at the forefront of innovative design and quality production with its lifts being widely used on construction and industrial sites around the world.
Genie Industries will be present at FA Central Hall at the Airport Expo, Dubai.
