Trelawny SPT, a UK-based manufacturer of a comprehensive range of pneumatic tools and surface preparation equipment, will be at the Big 5 to support to its Middle East dealers by displaying a wide range of products and having technical experts on hand to answer any operational questions.
At the show, the company will also be looking at increasing its existing construction, marine and specialist engineering distributorship network, which will help to boost sales in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and the Asian subcontinent.
“Our new and energetic management team, which has led the company since 2004, is currently pursuing a detailed strategic plan to sustain long-term growth strategy in the Middle East,” says Bill Bailey, sales director of Trelawny UK.
Originally established over 50 years ago, Trelawny offers a dedicated range of tools, specifically designed for the preparation of concrete and steel surfaces and the removal of substances such as laitance, paint, rust, bitumen and a variety of waterproof sealants.
At the Big 5, the company will be supporting its three principal dealers that include Dubai and Abu Dhabi-based Sigma Enterprises, Qatar-based Gulf Incon and Bahrain-based Gulf Equipment and Technology (GET)
Sigma Enterprises has been distributing the Trelawny product range for more than six years. Its combination of ample stock levels — essential for a fast-moving market such as Dubai — coupled with a professional after-sales service department, have ensured the success of Trelawny tools in the UAE.
Gulf Incon, which has been associated with Trelawny for over a decade, was established in 1980 and supplies equipment to a wide range of industries operating in Qatar. It has both field-based personnel and a major service centre.
Gulf Equipment and Technology (GET) is a relative newcomer to the Trelawny distributor network but has already built-up a substantial stock holding ready to meet with the increasing demands from Bahrain’s construction industry. “Although we are admirably represented by these organisations, Trelawny SPT is keen to hear from reputable construction, marine and specialist engineering distributors wishing to expand their product portfolio,” says Bailey. “Trelawny is currently looking to increase sales in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and all of the Asian subcontinent and is seeking experienced distributors. We welcome any interested firms to should come along to the Trelawny stand (to discuss the opportunities available with a Trelawny representative.
“In return, Trelawny provides a dedicated team of support staff and a reliable despatch service.”
“At the Big 5, Trelawny will be displaying scabbling hammers for surface preparation and coatings removal, including long-reach scabblers and pole tampers with interchangeable scabbling heads and tamper feet. These tools are ideally suited for deep concrete dressing and for backfill tamping especially in and around deep foundations and utility poles,” points out Bailey.
Visitors will also be able to view the advanced, low vibration (4.96 m/sq second), MHS11 multi-head floor scabbler, designed for removing concrete laitance while guarding against any damage to the substrate. Also on show will be the TFP 200 floor planer, which is described as being is ideal for a key or grooved profile on concrete. The TFP200 is also accomplished in the removal of scale, rust, paint and other deposits from steel surfaces in readiness for re-coating cleaned steel surfaces. It will cut up to 3 mm when reducing concrete.
Bailey continues: “If a contract requires a more substantial machine, then the Trelawny TFP 250 could be the ideal solution. The TFP 250 is a robust heavy-duty floor-scarifying machine, designed for more substantial applications such as concrete reduction, concrete grooving, laitance removal or keying in preparation for resurfacing. The TFP 250 motor has been cleverly positioned to place the weight directly above the cutter drum for a firm ground holding cut. This planer will cut up to 6 mm when reducing concrete.
Finally, delegates can study the Trelawny TCG 500, a strong concrete grinder with dual counter rotating discs designed for removing trowel marks, plaster, laitance and mortar spillages. It can tackle the build up of coatings and debris from the floor and is used for smoothing, levelling, texturing floors for non-skid applications and grinding terrazzo floor tiles.
To ensure that all its tools comply with the rigorous demands of low vibration levels, Trelawny operates an in-house testing procedure. All appropriate tools are tested in accordance with BS EN ISO8662 parts 1 and 14:1993 and 1997, or where this standard is not applicable, tested to BS EN ISO 5349-2:2000, he says.
Trelawny representatives will be available at Stand 2D72 at the Big 5 show.
