The recently-established Belimo Automation FZE will be exhibiting at the Big 5 show under its own banner this year, following the success enjoyed by its parent company at last year’s exhibition.
“Belimo Automation FZE started operations in Dubai on January 1, 2007. Our Swiss parent company Belimo Automation made its debut at the Big 5 show last year and was very impressed with the business we received,” says David Stevenson, sales manager, Belimo Automation FZE, Middle East.
The company will be highlighting four main products among its range of actuators catering to the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) sector of the construction industry — namely the CM damper actuator, COU24-A-MP fan optimiser, the new Belimo Q series actuators and the Monico monitoring system for fire dampers.
Describing these products, Stevenson says the CM damper actuator is compact and flat, while providing maximum application flexibility and opening up new opportunities for damper manufacturers and service companies.
The COU24-A-MP fan optimiser brings with it a new power-saving method to control the main AHU fan in a VAV (variable air volume) system.
“In future, fans can be controlled based on demand according to the damper positions of the downstream VAV units. Supply pressure regulation – which is presently the standard method – can thus be dispensed with and energy consumption of the fan reduced by as much as 50 per cent alongside reduced costs and increased convenience for users,” he points out.
The Belimo Q series actuators open and close air dampers and valves in a matter of seconds, thus improving the working ambiance immediately and speeding up the supply of fresh air to production facilities, laboratories and other sensitive areas, Stevenson says.
“The automatic current reduction at standstill as well as the novel mechanical inhibiting torque lock reduces energy consumption and operating costs to a minimum,” he adds.
Belimo’s Monico system is a monitoring solution for fire dampers and is a turnkey solution that is described as being particularly suitable for small to medium-sized buildings.
Elaborating on the operation of the product, Stevenson says: “In an emergency, motorised fire dampers help save human lives and also minimise damage to property. Following a fire alarm, the affected fire dampers close early and seal off the fire zones. This effectively prevents fire and smoke from spreading through ventilation ducts, so that escape and emergency routes remain accessible for a longer period.”
Belimo is a listed technology company that has developed, manufactured and distributed electric actuators for air dampers and valve technology in HVAC systems since 1975. The company’s innovative, high-class technology ensures trouble-free operation for all kinds of HVAC control devices, while simultaneously ensuring greater safety for property and occupants of buildings, he says.
“Belimo is a specialised company offering the world’s widest range of products for the motorised operation of final controlling elements in HVAC systems – for air and water systems, for greater protection against fire and smoke and for the individual control of room air by means of VAV boxes.
“Its actuators use the best possible electric motors and gearing and also employ highly sophisticated electronics for their control. Their simple engineering design philosophy reduces the possibility of mistakes during planning and installation to an absolute minimum,” he says.
The company also holds seminars and lectures on VAV, fire and smoke control, energy saving and many other subjects associated with its products to create awareness of its products.
Belimo Automation will be present at Stand 1C09.
