Fluke, a leading manufacturer of electronic test and measurement tools — together with its GCC distributor Haris Al Afaq — will demonstrate a wide range of building diagnostic tools at the Big 5 show.
Buoyed by the response it has received in the region, the Netherlands-based company is also looking at opening a representative office in the region next year.
“The company’s range of tools can be used to quickly locate problems in industrial and commercial facilities,” Hans de Laat, Fluke’s marketing manager for CEU/EEMEA.
“The tools help to regularly monitor heat loss, moisture invasion, indoor air quality as well as the performance of heating and ventilation systems thus increasing efficiency, comfort levels and preventing structural energy losses.”
“A wide range of performance issues directly related to the building tightness, the quality of insulation, indoor air quality and the effectiveness of ventilation systems can be quickly and accurately assessed with the right diagnostics tools,” says de Laat. “These tools include infrared thermometers and thermal imagers, indoor air quality and airflow meters as well as equipment troubleshooting tools.”
Arriving at the leading construction exhibition in the region for the second time in as many years, Fluke says that the response it had received at the previous exhibition was overwhelming. “Last year, we received a tremendous response to our demonstrations of thermal cameras for building diagnoses, which we believe is a direct consequence of the increased demand and attention on facility maintenance in the Gulf region.”
Some of its tools include:
• Fluke 360 AC leakage clamp meter, a rugged, pocket-sized tool for maintenance professionals and contractors. It has a wide range of current measurement capability and unique jaw design which makes it ideal for non-invasive checks of insulation conditions.
• Fluke 1630 earth ground clamp, which measures ground loop resistance without stakes, The stakeless testing method enables quick, easy earth ground tests for field service, industrial maintenance and utility technicians, says the company
• Fluke 922, a powerful handheld meter which measures differential pressure, air velocity and air flow.
By combining differential air pressure, air velocity, and air flow measurements into a single meter, the Fluke 922 enables technicians to conveniently monitor air pressure across key HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) components and to help maintain a comfortable environment by checking for optimum airflow balance, it points out.
• Fluke 975 AirMeter is part of Fluke’s growing line of test tools designed specifically for indoor air quality inspections. It simultaneously measures, logs and displays temperature (wet bulb and dew point), humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) levels on a bright, backlit display. It also includes airflow and velocity capability using the optional air velocity probe.
In addition to its range of tools for building diagnostics, Fluke will also launch its new range of digital multimeters for the industrial market and indicated that further new products could be expected at the show.
Among the latest range of digital multimeters introduced by the company are the Fluke 8845A and 8846A precision digital multimeters (DMM), which feature a 6.5-digit resolution, dual display that shows data in graphic or numeric formats and has multifunction measurement capability.
“These high-accuracy meters are designed to provide industry-leading value for bench or systems applications including manufacturing test, research and development, and service,” says a company spokesman.
The Fluke 8845A and 8846A have 14 measurement functions, extending the capability of a standard DMM with wider ranges and features to easily measure temperature, capacitance, period and frequency.
Global leader
“With the acquisition of several well-known companies in the test and measurement industry, Fluke has strengthened its position as a global market leader,” says de Laat. “In line with our focus on supporting our customers in the GCC region even better, Fluke will establish a representative office in the region in early 2008. This will further enhance our presence in the market, and support the efforts of the existing local distributors’ technical teams and repair and calibration labs.”
Founded in 1948, Fluke is the leader in compact, professional electronic test tools. “Our products are used by technicians and engineers in service, installation, maintenance, manufacturing test and quality functions in a variety of industries throughout the world,” says de Laat. “Headquartered in Everett, Washington, US, the company’s sales and service headquarters for Europe, Middle East and Africa are located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Fluke employs over 2,500 people.
Established in the UAE in 1968, Haris Al Afaq is a technical products company that covers the Southern Gulf directly as well as through a network of sub-distributors. Representing most premium brands of instrumentation, Haris is a ‘one-stop shop’ for the market’s testing requirements. Its technical centre in Sharjah provides training, support, repair and calibration services for all instruments provided by the company.
