Successful foray

An AWN girder machine … two of these units are on order for an Abu Dhabi precast factory.

Automatic Wire Machines (AWM), an Italian manufacturer of high-technology machines for the processing of reinforcement steel, says it has been highly successful in its foray into the Middle East, which it began targeting early last year.

In a year’s time, AWM has been able to sell several machines to Saudi Arabia and the UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi). Four machines – two special mesh welding lines and two flexible lattice girder machines – will be installed by the company in Abu Dhabi for a large precast factory, early next year. The mesh and lattice girder machines automatically and efficiently produce the necessary reinforcement to be used for the production of precast floor slabs and double walls, states the company.
Given this strong response, the Middle East market is presently a focal area for the company and will be present at the Big 5 PMV to promote its specialised range of machines.
Says a company spokesperson: “In response to the increasing demand for automatisation in the manufacturing processes, AWM is designing machinery and equipment to provide specific, high-performance and cost-effective solutions that meet the particular needs of the Middle East market. We are also studying the best options to improve our local service and to expand our sales network in this strategic area.”
Since 1987, AWM has been developing, designing and building high-technology machines for the processing of reinforcement steel, such as standard and special mesh welding machines, high-speed wire straightening and cutting machines, lattice girder machines, cold-rolling lines, automatic mesh cutting and bending machines, special machines for production of tunnel reinforcement and automatic machines for the production of steel reinforcement for box culverts.
Commenting on the group’s corporate philosophy, the spokesperson says: “The name AWM today is synonymous with quality, efficiency and flexibility worldwide. Corporate flexibility is the fundamental rule of AWM. Thanks to its modern and innovative structure, AWM can quickly meet the market needs by continuously creating new customised systems.”
AWM caters to the needs of a host of different companies including electro-welded mesh and lattice girder manufacturers, prefabrication yards (including tunnel segments production), precast box culverts manufacturers and big enterprises in the construction field.
Commenting on the company’s dedication to high quality standards, the spokesperson says: “AWM has chosen technology as the fountain-head of development: From design to production monitoring, from administration to management of the stocking department, and from order processing to commercial management, all operations are computerised and run on highly innovative software.
“To guarantee the quality of our equipment, we manufacture all the parts of our machines in Italy, and strictly follow production methods specified by AWM’s internal quality department.”
AWM’s quality system is certified by TUV and also conforms to the requirements of UNI EN ISO 9001:2000.
AWM’s target market, according to him, is focused on plants with high technological content which strive for high quality production. The company has developed and patented fully automatic plants for the production of steel reinforcement by using special software, developed entirely by its in-house software department.
AWM attributes its flexibility and technological growth to its close cooperation with the customers, a skilled team of engineers and the spirit of continuous innovation.  Customers purchasing equipment from AWM are backed by an efficient after-sales service, he says.
“AWM’s after-sales department provides support and assistance to customers worldwide, during installation, training and commissioning of the machines and during the entire service life of the plants. The machines are connected to the AWM master computer through modem, in order to guarantee timely assistance,” he points out.
Its after-sales service also includes preventive maintenance by means of specific service contracts customised according to the different requirements of the customers.
AWM serves customers across the globe by working closely with its wide network of sales agents. With its presence expanding throughout the world, the firm has been keen to understand traditions and learn cultures in order to adapt to and satisfy the unique requirements of different regions and individual countries.
