
Italy is set to make a major impression at the Big 5 with what it claims to be the largest international contingent at the show.
The country is bringing in a total of close to 500 firms, which will display their expertise in a diverse range of fields over a total area of close to 9,600 sq m.
Last year’s show featured a total of 450 firms spread over 8,000 sq m of exhibition space, offering their latest products and services in building, earthmoving and construction machineries, cleaning and maintenance products and equipment, water and environmental technologies, ceramics, glass and metal products, as well as project management and consultancy.
This year, Italian firms will be present in three separate areas of the show.
A 300-strong pavilion will spread out over a 4,778 sq m area in Halls 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition, 120 key Italian companies will showcase their choice natural stone and stone products over a 1,806 sq m area in Sheikh Rashid Hall. Within the marble section will be leading producers from Tuscany, which is famous for its high-quality marble, supported by the region’s chamber of commerce as well as the Chamber of Commerce of Sicily – both of which have participated at last year’s Big 5. Making its maiden appearance at the show is the Lecce Chamber of Commerce from Puglia region in southern Italy, which will present its choice Lecca stone producers.
This apart, some of Italian giants will promote their engineering excellence by bringing in their plant and machinery to the attention of key decision-makers over 3,000 sq m of indoor and outdoor space at the Big 5 PMV. Included among the 80 companies at PMV will be Faresin with its telescopic lifting equipment and Marcegaglia, which offers a diverse portfolio ranging from metal building envelopes to photovoltaics and storage systems. Both these companies will be making its debut at the show. Also present will be Cifa, a leading concrete equipment specialist, and MEP, a rebar-bending equipment manufacturer which have been regular participants at the show.
There are more than 80 Italian companies with offices and operating in the UAE in various fields that include oil and gas technology and exploitation; civil engineering, consulting and contracting; energy engineering; banking; airline and shipping lines; trading (marble, furniture, heavy and construction equipment and vehicles, foodstuff); steel production; and refrigeration.
