Big 5

Flushed with success

Watson … great potential.

This year’s Big 5 exhibition will offer the region’s visitors the opportunity to see first-hand a new micro greywater recycling system known as Ecoplay from CME Sanitary Systems of the UK.

Ecoplay, which offers a highly practical, effective and cost-efficient way to reduce water consumption in domestic applications, looks set to repeat the huge success it has enjoyed in the UK since it was introduced there last year, says a senior company official.
“We feel that there is great potential for Ecoplay in this region. The system won a Green Product of the Year award just weeks after it was launched in the UK and it can offer the same benefits to architects, developers and home owners here in the Middle East, ” CME chief executive officer Brian Watson says.
With water conservation becoming an ever-more important issue in the region, Ecoplay will form the centrepiece of the CME Sanitary Systems stand. This innovative system collects bath and shower water for re-use in toilet flushing and can help cut the volume of fresh water used for that purpose by up to 30 per cent, the spokesman points out.
“This not only generates significant cost-savings but also meets today’s environmental and sustainable construction agenda,” he adds.
Says Watson: “Climate and lifestyle changes are focusing increasing attention on the need to use our water resources in a far more efficient and environment-friendly way. Ecoplay offers a practical, affordable and sustainable way to meet this demand by significantly reducing the domestic mains water that is currently used just to flush toilets.
“Ecoplay offers the ultimate in comfort without compromise. It allows the user to enjoy things like power showers without feeling guilty, as the waste water they produce is recycled.”
Ecoplay is maintenance-free, compact, lightweight and easy to install in a standard-sized void. Water from the bath and shower is collected in a cleaning tank, where light materials such as hairs are skimmed from the surface while heavier materials such as dirt or sand sink to the bottom. The remaining ‘clean’ water then transfers to a storage tank from where it can be gravity-fed or pumped to the toilet. Each Ecoplay unit can store 100 litres of water – enough for approximately 20 toilet flushes.
The unit also features an intelligent control system, which actively manages the recycled water by keeping the water ‘young’ via an ingenious purging programme. If, after a period of regular use, the toilets are not flushed within 24 hours, the system automatically releases the stored water to waste before importing sufficient fresh water to flush the toilets, if required.
Many of CME’s other product lines are already well-established in the Middle East and information on these will also be available on the company’s Big 5 stand. These include the diverse Macdee range of wall-hung frame systems, flushing systems and brassware, as well as its extensive range of Celmac toilet seats.
Celmac is a leading brand of CME Sanitary Systems, recognised throughout the world. The unique range of products within the Celmac toilet seat collection is made possible by the combined manufacturing capabilities of specialist sites in England and the Far East.
Commenting on the company’s commitment to innovation and continuous product development for its Celmac brand, which is also true of its other brands, the spokesperson says: “Our highest priority is the innovation and development of new and existing products with a continued dedication to the highest standards of quality and customer service. Our smooth close technology and hinge expertise is second to none. A research and development team supports the launch of an ever-increasing number of new products to the industry with many products independently certified to British, European and international standards.
“We are also involved in the prototype testing of new materials and are constantly benchmarking products from our global sourcing network.”
Alongside our standard product portfolio we have the capability and capacity to create and test bespoke individual products to suit any style of WC pan,” he adds.
