Big 5

All pumped up

At last year’s show … positive response.

Dubai-based Pedrollo Gulf, a subsidiary of Italy’s Pedrollo, is all set to pump up the excitement at the Big 5 show, with new product launches in its various categories of pumps.

A well-established name in the water supply sector and a leader in the domestic segment, Pedrollo manufactures more than 2 million electric water pumps annually, ranging from 0.5 hp to 100 hp, in surface and submersible models.
Its range consists of 50 series of water pumps, including drainage, submersible and shallow well models, covering most applications in the domestic, civil, agricultural and industrial fields.
Pedrollo, which has exhibited at last year’s Big 5 show, returns this year to create further awareness about the company and its products and thus reinforce its position in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) market.
“We had very positive response to our participation at the Big 5 show and also managed to negotiate some deals at the event,” says general manager Joseph Gomes.  “We are targeting the tenders and projects segments of the market and have plans for expansion in the region. The opening of a branch office in Dubai is a clear indication of our ambitions in this direction.”
Founded in 1974, Pedrollo has a 70,000 sq m manufacturing facility in Verona, Italy and 500 employees. The company, which currently exports to 160 countries worldwide, has an annual turnover of around €150 million ($190 million), while its Dubai branch has a turnover of €1.5 million ($1.9 million).
The company is presently revamping its commercial operations worldwide, aiming for a direct presence in its different markets.
Speaking on its presence in the Gulf, Gomes says: “We have been present in this market ever since our inception (1974) as a market leader in the domestic sector.  Our target now is to be a leader in the agricultural and industrial sectors as well.”
Despite the high level of competition, in the last 10 years the company has attained steady growth, progressively developing its market share, points out Gomes.
“Pedrollo incorporates cutting-edge technology and automation, which has helped position it as a leader in its field, in terms of its level of investment as well as its quality throughout the production process. Priority is given to quality and laboratory tests are undertaken during all the phases of production processes: from the selection of raw material till assembly.
“Thanks to this high standard of quality, our high production capacity achieved through investments in modern and computerised technology, and our careful attention to human and professional skills, Pedrollo has grown remarkably in the past decade,” he says. “Furthermore, our commitment to research has ensured that we have new product launches every year that are technically more advanced, or manufactured with innovative materials, precision and attractive design.”
