Big 5

Light and easy

Skydeck panels ... low-weight components ease the work load.

During the Big 5, construction industry specialists will be treated to a wealth of information at the Peri stand through intensive discussions with Peri sales engineers, tours of the exhibits and numerous live demonstrations which will highlight the assembly and safety advantages of the German formwork specialist’s products.

With €1.110 billion ($1.4 billion) in revenues for 2007, 45 subsidiaries and 100 efficiently-run logistical centres serving over 65 national markets around the world, Peri stakes claim to be the biggest provider and manufacturer of formwork and scaffolding systems in the world.
On an area of around 100 sq m at Zabeel Hall during the Big 5 show, Peri will present a wide range of new products and services; effective practical improvements as well as proven items from formwork to shoring technology.
An impressive example of its effective solutions which accelerates the construction process is the Skydeck panellised slab formwork, which will be highlighted at the show.
Speaking on its outstanding qualities, a company spokesperson says: “This lightweight aluminium slab formwork is a proven system for slab thicknesses up to 950 mm. It not only accelerates the construction process, but also makes the work easier while guaranteeing safety.
“No individual component exceeds 15 kg. Due to the low weight of the individual components, easy and non-tiring forming can take place. The system is easy to clean and needs fewer props: For a 3.45 sq m field, only one prop is used with a 400-mm slab thickness. Through the use of the drop head, removal of formwork can take place the following day thus freeing up material for the next concreting cycle.”
The drophead is released with a hammer blow which causes the formwork to drop 60 mm (both panels and main beams). The panels can be separated easily from the concrete and immediately used for the next cycle.
Through the systematic assembly sequence, errors can be avoided as well as realising fast shuttering times.
Skydeck panels as well as main beams are equipped with self-draining edges. The edges of the panels are undercut which ensures cleaning is kept to a minimum and thus shorter shuttering times.
The Skydeck guarantees a straight support line at the end of the formwork. With system parts, these infill areas can be quickly formed with system components, according to the spokesperson.
In addition to its innovative formwork and scaffolding systems, Peri offers engineering, planning, special software, a rental service and logistics support.
The company has recently undertaken large-scale expansion of its production facilities at the main production plant in Weissenhorn. Commenting on the expansion, the spokesperson says, “Large, world-wide units lead to favourable manufacturing costs and reliable quality due to a high level of automation. The recent expansion has increased our manufacturing efficiency as well as our ability to supply. Thus, Peri formwork and scaffolding systems can now be produced and delivered in large numbers, while maintaining our high quality standards.”
The company is located at T31 in Zabeel Hall.
