The Weinig Office in Istanbul, Turkey, representing the world’s largest manufacturer of solid wood processing machinery, is launching a new moulder/tenoner, the Vario-mat, in the Middle East market.
Variomat is ideal for small and middle size companies, according to a company spokesperson.
“Small joinery companies, starting up in business or expanding their services, have a great opportunity to move directly into advanced, profitable technology at a stroke, with Weinig’s innovative new Variomat moulder/tenoner,” says the spokesperson. “Only the minimum capital outlay is needed, because Weinig has developed the Variomat with the small joinery company in mind, as an entry-level moulder, to replace the traditional three conventional standard machines for planing, moulding and tenoning, still widely used in the industry.”
To make it as easy as possible for the small company to afford the Variomat, the machine is built in modules, so that features can be added when required. “The customer need only buy the new-technology Variomat as a moulding and planing machine initially. It is pre-prepared for adding three modules – a memory system, PowerLock HSK tooling, and a full tenoning package – for retrofitting. The full package allows profiling and tenoning to be performed on one machine, by one operator, to produce virtually all the work usually manufactured in a joinery shop, with maximum efficiency and productivity,” he explains.
The advantages of the Variomat moulder over traditional machines are quite considerable. “It is over 10 times more productive, and guarantees both accuracy and quality. The moulder has the latest technology for machining any linear profile to the highest quality finish and it is easy to use and quick to set up. It accommodates conventional cutterblocks and also Weinig’s unique PowerLock HSK tooling. The memory system enables the operator to recall any existing settings at the press of a button, so repeat runs are produced without virtually any downtime; and setting up is almost as easy, with the first piece through ‘spot on’,” the spokesman points out.
The tenoner package comprises a multi-function table and all the necessary tenoning equipment to produce any longitudinal or end-tenon – all on the one machine. This gives a major advantage in making windows, solid doors and door frames, cabinet doors and meeting bespoke orders joinery quickly and easily, according to the company.
Weinig researched the needs of the small joinery shop before designing the ideal machine to meet their requirements, he adds. A prototype was first shown at the last Ligna exhibition in Hanover, Germany, last year to invite customer comments, and responses from potential users have been taken into account in producing the Variomat production model.
“A big advantage in dealing with Weinig is the guarantee of operator training and prompt engineering back-up, as well as the assurance that Weinig will work in partnership with the customer to ensure that his investment will be a profitable one, by providing technical advice and solutions to production problems as they arise,” he says.
The Germany-headquartered Weinig Group is a leading manufacturer for the solid wood processing industry, offering comprehensive services and system solutions, all the way to complete turnkey production plant.
