Maraya Zujaj meets high-end needs with clear solutions

The Larta lines are tiered based on iron content and optical performance, ranging from Standard Clear to UltraClear.

Maraya Zujaj, a newly established Saudi glass company backed by Bahraini partners, has entered the market to serve Saudi Arabia’s booming construction and glass-processing sectors as a supplier of raw materials and engineered solutions for national development projects.

In an exclusive interview with Gulf Construction’s BINA GOVEAS, General Manager Sayed Mohamed states the new venture is a direct response to Saudi Arabia’s ongoing transformation drive and the resulting surge in demand for advanced glass solutions.

Set up in Riyadh this year, the new company operates with a dual focus: a wholesale arm to supply the processing sector with raw materials and a project solutions arm to provide sophisticated, engineered glass solutions for the construction industry.

Mohamed describes Maraya Zujaj’s Riyadh headquarters as a “commercial and logistics hub”, featuring a specialised warehouse for its wholesale inventory including flagship glass and mirror products. The wholesale division acts as the official Saudi distributor for Larta Glass, a Russian-made float glass brand known for its high clarity and light transmission. The project division focuses on engineered products such as laminated, insulated, and solar-control glazing, along with design and project management services.

Larta UltraClear is ideal for premium shopfronts, display cases, internal partitions, and glass stairs in luxury settings where unobstructed, clear views are paramount.

“Even as a new brand, our value proposition has resonated strongly,” Mohamed says, adding that Maraya Zujaj has already signed exclusive supply agreements with major Saudi processors and is in talks for high-profile projects, including blast-resistant glazing for a commercial tower.

Larta UltraClear, its flagship low-iron float glass, is marketed as offering 90 per cent light transmission and neutral colour, eliminating the green tint common in standard glass. It is available in formats exceeding 9 m, giving architects scope for seamless façades and bespoke interiors.

“The ability to source panels over 9 m long allows for breathtaking, multi-storey continuous glazing without horizontal seams,” Mohamed points out. “This empowers architects to realise their most ambitious and visionary designs.”

Mohamed emphasises that the company differentiates itself through three core pillars: superior product quality via its exclusive Larta Glass partnership, a unique dual expertise in both bulk supply and complex solutions, and strong technical partnerships with clients.

Maraya Zujaj delivers everything from precision cut-to-size glass to high-performance tempered, laminated, and insulated units.

Our commitment is to bring the best of international quality and combine it with unparalleled local service, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the Saudi market,” he concludes.

Excerpts of the interview with Sayed Mohamed:

Highlight the strategic reasons behind establishing Maraya Zujaj in Saudi Arabia?

Maraya Zujaj was established as a Saudi entity to deeply embed ourselves within the kingdom’s transformative growth. The two strategic reasons are: first, to serve the booming glass processing sector with a reliable, high-quality supply of raw materials through our wholesale division, and second, to provide the construction industry with sophisticated, engineered glass solutions. While we are a new brand, our strategy is aligned with a broader vision of becoming a cornerstone of the Saudi glass industry, supporting the nation’s infrastructure and architectural ambitions directly from within Riyadh.

Describe Maraya Zujaj’s facilities in Riyadh. What capabilities do they offer for glass processing and solutions?

Our Riyadh headquarters serves as our commercial and logistics hub. It is designed for agility and excellence, featuring a specialised warehouse for our wholesale inventory, particularly our flagship glass and mirror products. For our project solutions, we have established a state-of-the-art partnership with a leader in glass processing to offer the market with solutions for construction projects in the market. Our collaboration model allows us to execute complex processing through strategic partnerships, ensuring we deliver everything from precision cut-to-size glass to high-performance tempered, laminated, and insulated units without compromising on quality or timelines.

Maraya Zujaj operates with two divisions: a Wholesale Division and a Project Solutions Division. Can you explain the distinct focus and target clients for each of these divisions?

The two divisions are designed to address specific market needs with focused expertise. The focus of the Wholesale Division is on supply chain excellence. We act as the prime source of premium raw glass and mirrors, notably as the exclusive Saudi representative for Larta Glass. Our target clients are glass processors, workshops, and fabricators who require consistent quality, competitive pricing, and reliable JIT (Just-in-time) delivery for their production needs.

The focus of the Project Solutions Division is on technical innovation and value-added services. We provide bespoke, engineered glass products for architectural and interior applications.

Our target clients are aluminium and façade fabricators, main contractors, consulting engineers, and design firms who need a partner for complex glazing challenges, specification support, and full project execution.

Maraya Zujaj is a representative of Larta Glass in Saudi Arabia. How does this partnership enable it to provide high-quality raw glass and mirrors to the local market?

This partnership is a cornerstone of our wholesale strategy. Larta Glass, manufactured with modern float techniques and premium raw materials, is a benchmark for quality that rivals any European glass. Being their exclusive representative provides the Saudi market with direct access to this superior product line. It enables us to guarantee our clients exceptional clarity – like with Larta UltraClear which has 90 per cent light transmission – consistency in supply, and a level of optical performance that is essential for high-end architectural and interior projects, all supported by our local stock and logistics.

Beyond the wholesale of raw materials, what are some of the “engineered project solutions” and value-added services the company provides to clients?

Our project solutions are where we truly innovate. We move far beyond basic supply to offer:

•   Custom fabrication: Precision-cutting, tempering, laminating, and insulating (IGU) to exact specifications.

•   Performance glass: Solutions for safety (attack-resistant laminates), security, and acoustics, and for Saudi Arabia’s extreme climate (high-performance solar control Low-E IGUs).

•   Bespoke solutions: Custom-made curved glass, digital ceramic printing on glass, and complex structural glazing designs.

•   Full service: Technical consultation, value engineering, BIM (building information modelling) support, and project management from design to delivery.

Although a new establishment, what have been some of your initial successes that demonstrate your capabilities and expertise in the Saudi market?

Even as a new brand, our value proposition has resonated strongly. We have successfully secured exclusive supply agreements with several major Saudi processors for Larta Glass, demonstrating trust in our product quality and supply chain reliability. Furthermore, our project division is already engaged in advanced discussions for significant projects, including the supply of high-specification, bomb-blast laminated glass for a commercial tower and custom-fitted glass for a large-scale façade, proving our capability to handle complex, technical requirements from the outset.

How do you plan to differentiate Maraya Zujaj from other glass suppliers in Saudi Arabia, particularly in terms of quality, service, and technical support?

We differentiate on three pillars:

•   Product quality: Our exclusive partnership with Larta Glass provides a tangible quality advantage in the raw material segment that is immediately visible to clients.

•   Dual expertise: Unlike suppliers focused on only one area, we offer deep expertise in both bulk supply for processors and complex solutions for projects, making us a versatile partner.

•   Technical partnership: We don’t just take orders. We assign technical teams to work alongside clients – from consultants to fabricators – to solve problems, optimise designs, and ensure the correct application of glass, thereby adding significant value beyond the transaction.

The company’s mission is “To empower Saudi Arabia’s growth through exceptional glass solutions”. How does Maraya Zujaj contribute to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in the construction and industrial sectors?

Our mission is our operational blueprint. We contribute to Vision 2030 directly through:

•   Economic diversification and local content: We are a Saudi entity, creating skilled jobs and investing in the local industrial ecosystem. We empower local processors by providing them with world-class materials to compete and grow.

•   Sustainable urbanisation: Our high-performance glass products, like Low-E IGUs, are essential for building energy-efficient, sustainable towers and homes, reducing the carbon footprint of Saudi Arabia’s new urban landscapes.

•   Elevating standards: By introducing advanced products and international technical expertise, we are helping to raise the quality and innovation benchmarks of the entire Saudi construction sector.”

Among the highlights of Larta UltraClear are “extremely high light transmission” (LT 90 per cent) and “genuinely neutral colour”. Elaborate on the benefits of these optical properties?

These properties are transformative. An LT of 90 per cent means spaces are flooded with natural light, reducing artificial lighting costs and creating a brighter, healthier environment. The genuinely neutral colour – the absence of the greenish or blueish tint found in standard glass – is critical for authenticity.

It ensures true colour rendition for retail displays, art galleries, and interior decor, and it provides architects with a perfectly clear canvas, allowing the intended design and materials of a building to shine through without any colour distortion from the glass itself.

What is the significance of eliminating the typical green tint found in standard glass, particularly for high-end applications?

The green tint is a tell-tale sign of standard glass, caused by iron oxides. Eliminating it is a mark of quality and sophistication. For high-end applications, this tint is unacceptable. It distorts the true colour of interior finishes, clothing in retail stores, and artwork. In façade applications, when laminated or insulated, the green tint can become pronounced and create a dated, low-quality appearance.

Larta UltraClear’s neutral base ensures a pristine, crystal-clear view that is synonymous with luxury, modernity, and architectural intent.

Can you elaborate on the different applications where Larta UltraClear’s exceptional clarity would be most beneficial?

For interiors, it is ideal for premium shopfronts, display cases, internal partitions, and glass stairs in luxury settings where unobstructed, clear views are paramount. It is also used in mirrors and glass furniture where colour fidelity is essential.

In facades applications, its value is unparalleled in structural glazing and curtain-walls for high-rise towers, especially when used in laminated or insulated units. The neutrality ensures the building’s design is preserved without a green cast, and its availability in large sizes minimises visual interruptions from joints, creating a stunning, seamless appearance.

The glass is available in a full spectrum of thickness and format options, including “unprecedented sizes over 9 m”. Explain how this flexibility in size and thickness gives architects and designers more creative freedom?

This flexibility shatters previous creative constraints. The ability to source panels over 9 m long allows for the design of breathtaking, multi-storey continuous glazing without horizontal seams. This enables cleaner, more dramatic architectural lines and unimpeded panoramic views. The range of thicknesses means we can meet both aesthetic and structural demands – from delicate interior applications to robust, wind-load resistant façade systems – all with the same superior clarity. It empowers architects to realise their most ambitious and visionary designs.”

Larta UltraClear is positioned as part of Larta’s “upgraded low-iron offerings, positioned above Clear and ExtraClear lines”. Could you explain the key differences between these product lines?

The product lines are tiered based on iron content and optical performance. Standard Clear glass has the highest iron content, resulting in the familiar green tint. ExtraClear significantly reduces iron, offering improved clarity and less colour distortion. UltraClear represents the pinnacle: it uses a unique formula to minimise iron to virtually undetectable levels. This isn’t just an incremental improvement; it’s a categorical leap. It sets a new standard with its flawless neutrality and exceptional light transmission, making it the definitive choice for projects where optical perfection is non-negotiable.”

Larta uses modern float glass techniques for the production of Larta Glass, including “Russian raw materials and the expertise of local professionals”. How does this combination of resources contribute to the quality and consistency of Larta UltraClear?

This combination is the foundation of its quality. The premium Russian raw materials are known for their purity and consistency, which is the essential starting point for producing a high-clarity, low-iron glass. This is combined with modern production techniques in state-of-the-art facilities that allow for precise control over the manufacturing process.

Finally, the expertise of local professionals ensures this advanced technology is operated to its highest potential. This synergy of pure materials, modern technology, and human skill guarantees a product of exceptional and consistent quality, batch after batch.

Anything else you would like to add about Maraya Zujaj and Larta Glass?
