PK 880 TEC boasts a lightweight design and innovative features.

Palfinger’s new PK 880 TEC loader crane is now available for order following its world premiere at bauma 2025, the world’s largest construction equipment show held in Munich, Germany, in April. The company says the model “punches above its weight” with its impressive lifting power and advanced features.

The new crane is a key addition to Palfinger’s TEC range and boasts a lightweight design and innovative features, according to Alexander Susanek, the company’s COO.

“When designing the new PK 880 TEC, we focused on creating a solution that truly meets the needs of our customers – especially the operators who rely on our products every day. With its advanced design, innovative features and improved weight, the PK 880 TEC is perfectly suited for operation in confined spaces,” says Susanek. “Our TEC range for loader cranes now covers the 24- to 165-MT classes, further strengthening our position as the global market leader in this segment. And this is just the beginning – our pipeline is packed with exciting product innovations for various markets.”

The new PK 880 TEC loader crane combines  precision, maximum efficiency and extensive lifting power. At the same time, the crane’s lightweight P-profile boom system provides lifting capacities above its class, allowing increased payload on the truck while remaining compact and space-saving, he says.

The PK 880 TEC is equipped with a range of smart assistance systems to enhance efficiency and safety. These include Slewing Lock, which prevents the crane from moving into restricted areas, and Memory Position, which stores up to four coordinates for repeated tasks. The crane also features a Levelling Assistant that can reduce set-up and stabilisation time by up to 80 per cent, according to Palfinger

For improved visibility on the job site, the model includes a new lighting system with two working lights on the crane and two on the fly jib, supplemented by LED strips under the boom.

The crane can be fitted with Palfinger’s Electric Power Unit 40, which allows operators to switch between diesel and electric power. This gives fleet managers the flexibility to use the same unit across multiple trucks and enables operations in noise- or emission-sensitive environments, Susanek says.

Palfinger Connected plus+ simplifies daily operations and complex project planning. Operators and fleet managers can check the device status at any time, while the entire team benefits from access to a shared database. One of the essential features of Connected plus+ is the Job Planner, which optimises the entire planning process and increases the safety and efficiency of lifting operations by taking the specific crane set-up on the vehicle, the planned outrigger situation and lifting capacity data into account.

When using the PK 880 TEC, operators can choose between the P6 and P7 remote controls. The P7 is an existing high-end solution while the P6 serves as a lightweight alternative. “Thanks to its compact design and ergonomic carrying belt system, the recently introduced P6 remote control is easy to use, while the integrated colour display allows intuitive control, and the battery life of over 40 hours ensures uninterrupted operation,” he says.

From light to heavy-duty models, Palfinger offers a broad and versatile loader crane portfolio, including the TEC, SH, EH and SLD ranges, tailored to each customer’s needs.
