NGI ... cutting-edge machinery.

Anew state-of-the-art glass processing factory in the UAE, which was scheduled to commence commercial production at the end of last month, will be using the Big 5 show to launch itself in the region.

The recently-established National Glass Industry (NGI) in Ras Al Khaimah is equipped with machines from renowned European firms and has been set up to meet the increasing demand for glass in the region’s construction industry.
The glass processing factory has a designed tempering capability of approximately 700,000 to 750,000 sq m per year, while its double glazing capacity is between 800 and 1,000 sq m on an eight-hour shift.
NGI, according to CEO and managing director Amjad Ali Hussain, is one of the best equipped and most modern glass processing facilities in the region. “Besides having some of the best glass processing machinery from Lisec and other reputable manufacturers, we will also have the first tempering furnace from Saint Gobain, France, in the region to process and temper glass of 0.02 emissivity. We have also incorporated Lisec’s cutting-edge glass auto loading system and Lisec’s state-of-the-art glass processing and production management software, which really places us in the professional league of glass processors in the region,” says Hussain.
Glass processing machinery from Lisec, which NGI has installed at its facility, include a jumbo cutting line (size 3,000 mm by 6,000 mm), an insulating glass line, equipped with with robotic sealing and Schucko enabled, and an automatic spacer bending and desiccant filling machine. NGI’s preprocessing machinery includes Schiatti Agnelo’s variable angle edging and polishing machine and laser-guided double head drilling machine; Triulzi’s horizontal washer (size 2,500 mm) with low-e compatibility; and Saint Gobain’s tempering furnace (FTRC 4824).
“This tempering furnace will have a 100 per cent forced convection system to produce top quality glass with increased productivity of low-e and super low-e glasses. The furnace has minimised cycle times with a maximised output capacity.
Established last year and currently with a staff of 35, NGI will offer a wide product range that includes insulated double-glazed units, laminate glass, solar and ultraviolet (UV)-controlled glass units, tempered and heat strengthened glass, stained glass, shower screens, shopfront facade glazing and showroom glass, point fixed glazing applications, acoustic glazed products and fire-rated glass.
Besides the booming construction industry in the GCC countries, NGI sees bright prospects for its glass products in neighbouring Middle East countries such as Jordan and Iraq.
The company can be found at ZG 49 in the Za’abeel concourse.
