Buzon Pedestal International (BPI), a Belgium-based developer of heavy-duty adjustable and flexible screwjack pedestal systems for raised access floors and terraces, will attend this year’s Big 5 show along with its local partner Rohmix International, displaying its latest innovations and state-of-the-art product range which is widely accepted across the globe.
Buzon Pedestals have been used already for several prestigious projects in the UAE and builder’s interest in this unique product is growing with every successful project in the region, says Joerg Carl, manager of the Middle East department for BPI.
“Although we have been participating at the Big 5 for the past eight years, this year’s show is more significant since we will be attending the show with our local representation which was established only in this year,” says Carl.
Located in Dubai, Rohmix will be handling BPI’s Middle East operations, pushing the pedestal system which is suitable for all types of raised floors and terraces, on all types of substrate and roofing materials and decking.
“It is a paver’s support system which comes with a range of advantages that include: height adjustment from 35 to 620 mm, slope corrector device for compensating slopes of up to five per cent, high load capacity of 1,000 kg/pedestal, stable stand because of big supporting surface, no need of screwing pedestal to the underneath flooring and freedom for using with any kind of substrate or flooring material,” he explains.
The system finds use in a variety of applications that include: roofs to cover pipelines and wires thereby offering more space; building raised floors for terraces with stone, granite, wood or any other flooring material; industrial raised floors such as grilles, temporary floors for exhibitions or show events with chipboard flooring or any other kind of material; and on large expanses to provide for roof drainage under pavers and a perfectly level surface.
Made from 5-mm-thick, high-strength polypropylene, the pedestals can be installed directly on waterproofing membranes and insulation boards. The smallest pedestal starts at 17 mm, and those above 35 mm are adjustable in height in millimeters up to 620 mm. “The BPI pedestal system offers a key benefit to architects, in that they have the freedom to specify the width and space between the tiles used. When the same space between the tiles is required then Buzon spacer tabs (available in 2, 4.5, 6 and 10 mm thickness) can be used.” he points out.
Established in 1986, the company BPI has invented its pedestal system to meet the various demands of the builders. The state-of-the-art system will be at display at Big 5 show stand D40 in Hall 1.
“Our experiences of attending the region’s biggest construction industry show have always been good. The best thing is that you get to meet the right people and companies make just the kind of contacts they need. Each time, we have a lot of enquiries at the stand and subsequent correspondence with the clients, which helps them understand our systems better,” he explains.
“For us the participation in this show is of paramount importance as not only do we make our presence felt but also there is a growing interest in our products every year. We have clients who come each year to our stand to acquaint themselves of the latest in terms of product developments.”
This time around, the company will be displaying its latest product innovation – the Transparent Pedestal System – which has been developed to meet the demands of architects and designers. The pedestal, which has a unique design and a wide range of applications – far more than the previous varieties – has already been tested for its strength.
“For example, the company’s illuminated raised floor with transparent pedestal, coloured lights and semi-transparent marble tiles on top is an elegant design for a prestigious hotel lobby or a spacious showroom. The pedestal in its transparent version has opened new avenues of design concept for interior designers and architects,” points out.
The company will also be showcasing its Composite Wood, which has remarkable properties to fit into outdoor applications in the Middle East region. Another creation of the company’s owner Claude Buzon is the Clip Wood System, which enables to wood to be fixed only with clips, without the need for screws.
“Our focus on continuous innovation has helped the company to increase its global market share, which has seen incredible growth in recent years. The company has attended a number of exhibitions all over the world and has recently completed supplying for projects in the UAE – including a water fountain in Dubai Marina, new Police headquarters building in Dubai and Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
Over the years, the company has established a sales representation in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the UAE and is pushing its reach to over 35 countries worldwide.
The company is also gearing up to open further offices in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Iran to cater to these growing markets and plans are on cards to double pedestal production capacity by the end of next year to meet the future demands.
“We believe the boom in the building construction field will continue for the next 10 years in the GCC which has required us to expand our operations in this part of the world,” he concludes.
