AWU GmbH is participating in Big 5 for the second consecutive year with variety of revolutionary products in water treatment, irrigation and piping systems, totally new to the world, to meet the requirements of customers with higher expectations anywhere and in any trying conditions, explains Klaus Gregori, the managing director of AWU.
The scientists and engineers at AWU Group strive to put in their continuous endeavour to provide total solutions to anything and everything related to all kinds of water and waste treatment plants – it’s treatment, recovery or smooth and safe flow, he says. Established during 1993 in Germany, AWU is specialised in water treatment plants, piping systems and specialised equipment related to water.
He adds: “Witnessing the positive response to last year’s Big 5 participation, we have opened a representative office in Dubai to operate all over the Middle East and Africa through distribution channels. We are planning to start the state-of-art foundry and specialised coating plant here in Dubai in 2006.”
“We intend to launch a major promotional campaign for property owners, architects, contractors and distributors for our high tech products during Big 5,” says Viren Narkar, the area manager. We will be selecting our dealers and distributors for all the countries during this Big 5 exhibition.”
He continues: “Our scientists and engineers have invented eco-friendly, organic, non-toxic and thoroughly tested product and technology which would take care of water treatment at lakes and lagoons, as well as waste water treatment, sewage treatment plants. These highly economical, time-saving, energy-saving products and technology will be displayed during Big 5. These would be promising permanent solutions for the current problems which lakes, lagoons and waste and water treatment plants are facing. We have refined technology for reverse osmosis plants, desalination plants and aeration and cleaning plants and assure a complete solution.”
“Our new technology of underground irrigation systems, live demos of aeration plants and specialised piping systems will be displayed at Big 5,” says Gregori. “The underground irrigation system has not been introduced in the world so far and we are planning to set up the first manufacturing plant in UAE. This unique underground irrigation system will save up to 70 per cent of the water used with the present conventional sprinklers and drip irrigation system. We expect business of over $50 million per year.”
“AWU will be introducing these revolutionary new products, which will be made available to clients after successful and satisfactory testing of its performance in the Middle East over a predetermined time. The sewage treatment chemical will double the capacity of the sewage and water treatment plant. The underground irrigation system will save up to 70 per cent water whereas the aeration system will solve major lagoon problems at half the cost,” says Narkar.
“We are planning to manufacture all these in the Middle East, considering the facilities available here like infrastructure, electricity and labour. Our study clearly indicates that the Middle East in general and UAE in particular could be a very strong alternative for many other countries like China, Turkey and India for many of our products that we are presently outsourcing. Our scientist and engineers like the lifestyle here as well.
“Our piping systems are with a special coating which will guarantee satisfactory performance for over 50 years. A cross-section of the same product used for over 15 years will be displayed at the Big 5 exhibition.” says Narkar. “We are planning to set up a coating plant in the Middle East.”
He continues: “We are targeting Big 5 as it has a large audience from across the Middle and Far East. It will help create awareness of our company in the region and further our goal of being one of major players in water treatment plants and other water specialty products. However, we will be looking for reliable and reputed dealers and distributors as our business partners.”
“With major new building construction projects being announced at a regular frequency in the entire Gulf, the region will see a substantial rise in population making greater demands on water and water specialist products, he adds.
“AWU designs and manufactures its products and markets them all over the world. The product range is continuously improved and expanded and now covers most of the water-related requirements,” says Narkar
In the piping systems field, the company produces total solutions for the smooth and safe flow of water and fluids. Available in virtually any size, the product mix includes pipes, pipe-fittings and valves.
“We also produce split sleeves for special applications. These products are manufactured from ductile iron, carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum at our state-of-the-art foundries and fabrication facilities, meeting DIN-EN-ISO-9001 standards,” he continues.
In the field of water treatment system, AWU has developed advanced technologies for treating all types of water. The product range includes wastewater treatment plants and chemicals, reverse osmosis (RO) plants, desalination plants, aeration and cleaning systems/plants (especially for lakes and lagoons). These products are manufactured according to the specific requirements of exacting clients.
The company constantly strives to develop new ideas to save water and protect the environment. Its range of special water equipment includes:
• Mulch Master – a lawn-mover, which saves water, fertiliser, time, money and develops healthy grass;
• Hawle – which comprises all kinds of valves, couplings, fittings, clamps, saddles and tools for waste water, gas and portable water;
• Hurner – plastic pipe welding machines;
• Maxwill – agricultural tractors and equipment;
• AWU – special underground irrigation systems; and
• AWU – liquid fertiliser and insecticide sprayers.
“All these products and systems will be on display at our stand at the German pavilion,” Narkar says.
Besides introducing its product range in the market by the end of the year, the company also intends to appoint distributors throughout the Middle East.
“Our domestic market is very buoyant and we expect a very good business growth for the next 10 years. The majority of the population is younger in the Middle East unlike Europe. This will keep the demand for water continuously growing at very high rate over next 50 years. However, we also know that the Middle East is the ‘most vibrant place’ right now and with the right representation in various countries and right strategies, we intend to make best use of the opportunities the region presents,” Gregori concludes.
