Oscam – a leading Italian manufacturer of machinery, plants and software to process concrete reinforcement both from rebars and coils, is looking forward to introduce new pile caging machines, models of stirrup machines, shearlines and super-automatic shaping centres – at this year’s Big 5.
The company, which achieved success at last year’s show, is optimistic about making further gains this year. “The Gulf area is one of our leading markets and we intend to promote our wide range of machines alongside our new products at the show,” says Anna Rizzi.
“We also have plans to open an office and service centre in the UAE and to expand our production facilities,” Rizzi adds.
Oscam claims to be a leader in its field, having brought out a number of innovations during its 60-year-plus history. This year, the company has seen a 40 per cent increase in sales compared to 2004.
“Excellence has always marked our history. Oscam has been in the forefront for designing machinery and lines for processing steel rods for reinforced concrete,” he claims. “It is no mere coincidence that all major innovations that have promoted development of the sector, from design and construction of the first automatic rod benders in the world, cutting slides, robot-controlled bending systems to the large cutting lines and the super-automatic systems of the Combi series have originated and been developed by Oscam. Our ongoing research and development for new technologies results in machines that are increasingly ‘intelligent’ and user-friendly and at the same time exceptionally sturdy and reliable, built to protect the investment made by those who opt for Oscam quality over time. Oscam offers solutions that are flexible, customized and extremely efficient, directed towards guaranteeing greater productivity and more rational use of the workforce.”
Oscam can supply machines that meet a full range of needs for the processing of steel rods for reinforced concrete – whether a small machine required on site or a large-scale industrial plant processing hundreds of thousands of tonnes annually.
Some of the company’s products that are in demand in the region include: complete shearlines, mini-shearlines, cutting benches, shaping lines, bending robots, stirrup machines, automatic bending machines, shears, hoop-spiral machines, pile-machines, mesh bending and cutting machines for reinforced concrete rods, says Rizzi.
In the Gulf markets, Oscam has already supplied its machines to a long list of clients that includes: Cicon, Union Rebar, Abdul Noor, ERF, Emirates Rebar, Inter Taym, among others.
Following the acquisition of an additional plant recently from Oscam, Cicon is expected to reach a capacity of cutting and bending around 30,000 tonnes of steel per month making it one of the leaders in the segment.
Established in 1938, Oscam has its head office and production facilities in Torino, Italy and claims to be by far the leader in its domestic market.
Some of the more renowned machines from the company’s stables include the twin-bending robot Smart Futura; automatic cutting machines with electronic measurement; SmartCombi Oscam and the SuperCombi Oscam among others.
Oscam’s range of machines include: bending machines, shears, combined bending – cutting machines, hoop-spiral machines, mesh cutting machines – mesh bending machines, cutting machines A45-D50, cutting line Compact, Red Line, Normal Line, Multiline, Combi System, stirrup bending machines, multibend, and portable shears.
Automatic cutting machines
These machines are produced in various models with differentiated dimensions and output to meet all customer requirements. Included within this range is the HSEL (high speed and electronic measuring system) with one, two and three tracks, the HSEL 100/94, 50/94 and 70/94, and the Compact shearline
Oscam’s Compact shearline – designed to meet medium and large-scale production requirements – combines the high level of automation of its HSEL cutting machines with the power and capacity of its larger systems.
The machine is equipped with a motorised pre-stocking system. The operator is simply required to insert the tip of the bar into the hydraulically-operated loader and the machine performs automatic feeding, electronic measurement, cutting and unloading on the two sides, both on to the floor storage system and on the chain conveyor for immediate transfer to the bending bench.
All operative functions of the shearline are controlled by manual commands or by an easy-to-use machine control unit, which can be interfaced with a remote PC for programming the work orders from the office.
Bending lines
The robot Smart Futura, based on the Oscam concept of simultaneously bending by means of two movable machines, is a modern versatile bending system for fully automatic rebar shaping operations. It uses advanced technologies for shaping bars up to 40 mm in diameter. The system comprises a sturdy powered roller bench with bar feeding and storage functions. Conceived with the aim of reducing material handling to a minimum, it is equipped with a computer able to programme and memorise up to 999 shapes in a simple and user-friendly way. The shape to be achieved appears in real time on the machine monitor, thus allowing a steady check on the bending phases.
Support
“The company’s technical department offers free feasibility analysis and personalised projects for turnkey factories,” says Rizzi. In addition, Oscam provides prompt assistance through its team of highly qualified technicians, and has got a rich warehouse that assures the supply of spare parts at the shortest possible time. This is the reason why the company’s services have been called upon by several worldwide big projects that include: dams, railways, airports, bridges, power plants, ports, motorways.”
Oscam will be present at Hall 5 F236 during the Big 5 show.
