Guggenheim Abu Dhabi ... a series of asymmetrical cones surround the main building and serve as both entrances to the museum and outdoor exhibition spaces.

Poised to be the region’s pre-eminent museum for contemporary art, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is on schedule for completion in Q4 2025. Its asymmetrical design by Frank Gehry incorporates abstract conical forms inspired by traditional watchtowers, creating external shading structures at the entrance.

The building’s glassfibre and reinforced concrete cladding panels mirror the unique colour of Saadiyat Island’s sand, deeply embedding it within its coastal desert context.

Like its counterparts, the Guggenheim integrates sustainable elements, including natural cooling and ventilation within its covered courtyards via the unique conical structures.

The project has also focused on local sourcing of materials where possible, including steel, concrete, wood, and aluminium.
