Syriamica Azzouz Corporation of Syria has witnessed good growth this year with the opening of a printing department. It has also launched production of embossed skin HPL (high-pressure laminate) doors which look like their modern wooden counterparts.

"We enjoy an annual growth of 25 per cent and are self-reliant for most of our business requirements. We try to use all our production lines as cost-effectively as possible," says company spokesperson Randa Barakat.

The company launched production in 1979 of high-pressure laminates and over the years, it has grown and diversified to serve the international market demands.

The firm now enfolds: Syriamica, which produces HPLs and decorative impregnated paper; Syrotrays, which produces laminated trays; Syrokitchens, which manufactures kitchen shutters and fittings for all kinds of kitchens. Syrofloor, which specialises in parquet; and Syriaprint, which offers a wide range selection of decor paper.

At the Big 5 (stand 6A316), Syriamica will display samples of its products and kitchens. It will also show off new designs which have been printed at its new in-house printing department.

Commenting on the firm's participation at previous shows, Barakat says: "We were at the Big 5 shows in 2000 and 2001. It was a great opportunity to communicate with traders in the Gulf. The event is well organised and gives us the opportunity to keep abreast with the latest ideas and projects around the world."

Looking at the future, Barakat says the company intends to launch its fourth impregnation line and a second printing machine. It also plans to install two new reactors.
