Ankers ... CPA chief executive.

The largest and the most diverse group of British companies are taking part in this month's Big 5 in Dubai, under the sponsorship of the Construction Products Association (CPA) and its partners.

"This year will see 46 companies within our pavilion covering 450 sq m in Hall 6 of the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, says CPA which acts as a single, influential voice for the manufacturers and suppliers of construction products in the UK.

With its partner Building Exhibitions Management (BEM), the CPA is an official Trade Partners UK sponsor of the country's pavilion at the Big 5.

"Working through Building Exhibitions Management, I am delighted that this year we have brought a record number of companies to this show," says CPA chief executive Michael Ankers.

"These companies illustrate the wide range of products available from the UK and demonstrate how innovative our industry can be."

Among the exhibitors on the pavilion are Perrin & Rowe, Catnic, Steelfields, Don Construction, Rigidal, Selkirk, Steelfields, Varley & Gulliver and Yale Security Products UK, all exhibiting products covering each element of the event from kitchens and bathrooms, environmental and water equipment and all aspects of the construction industry.

"We are delighted Trade Partners UK are not only financially assisting so many UK companies in their export efforts within the Middle East, but also with their knowledge and full range of export services, providing a vital service to ensure UK plc is ready to compete within this hugely diverse and immense export market," says Simona Novelli, the project manager of The Big 5.

"The opportunities that this trade fair offers are immense and it is our aim to support our exhibitors every step of the way."

The CPA says its aim is to build a growing, profitable and sustainable future for the £39 billion ($59.7 billion) construction products industry, which also accounts for 40 per cent of total construction output and nearly 20 per cent of the UK manufacturing base.

"One of the vital roles that the CPA plays to assist its members in their export activities, is as a sponsor of Trade Partners UK-funded exhibitions worldwide," says the association.

The Big 5 is one such event on its calendar.

It is largest trade show for the construction industry in the Arabian Gulf, a unique event combining five major exhibitions under one roof featuring around 1,500 companies from 50 countries, says CPA.

The building and construction section is the largest event for suppliers of systems, components, materials, fittings and service to the GCC's buoyant building sector - this is the main component of the Big 5 show covering 10,000 sq m and growing each year.

The CPA and its exhibitors will be at stand 6D283.
