The Big 5

Improving access

Genie’s new range ... better access.

Leading international access manufacturer Genie Industries will be making its debut at the Big 5 Show in Dubai this year with its eye-catching range of self-propelled booms and scissors, trailer-mounted booms, portable lifts, telehandlers and light towers, its spotlight being on the smallest and most compact.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit at the Big 5 show with our presence at the event reflecting our commitment to support our customers in the region,” says Brad Abrahams, newly-appointed regional sales manager for the Middle East.
“With the buoyant level of the construction sector in the area, we are currently experiencing a very strong demand across the range of equipment we manufacture. We intend to increase our presence in the near future to provide localised support to our customers and reinforce the strong links we’ve forged over the years with local companies,” he says.
“I will be moving to Dubai later on this year as we are planning to add a back-up team on the ground,” Abrahams adds.
Genie will be exhibiting the Z-51/30J RT, the latest model in the Genie articulating boom family at this year§s show. A compact machine with a stowed height of 2.16 m, a stowed length of 7.5 m, a width of 2.29 m, and a centre ground clearance of 0.39 m, the unit features a platform height of 15.6 m, 9.2 m of horizontal outreach, 7 m of up-and-over clearance and a lift capacity of 227 kg.
Other models on display will include the smallest telehandler in the range, the GTH-2506. Its compact dimensions of 1.80 m width and 1.92 m height allow access in tight areas such as industrial buildings and underground car parks.
“Featuring a lifting height of 5.75 m, the GTH-2506 can easily reach the first floor level of most buildings and has an impressive lift capacity of 2.5 tonnes. With hydrostatic four-wheel drive and three steering modes – two-wheel, four-wheel and crab steer – the GTH-2506 has high manoeuvrability. The easy-to-use, multi-function proportional joystick provides fast and precise positioning for easy operation and minimal operator effort with hand movement. The Deutz 63 hp engine is side-mounted for easy access to components while its low pivot boom allows excellent visibility,” he says.
The AWP portable personnel lift, SLA portable material lift and the GS-1932 self-propelled electric scissors will also be showcased along.
Genie Industries, a subsidiary of Terex Corporation, will also put the spotlight on the Amida AL4000 light tower from its parent company. This heavy-duty model features a 9.1 m extended mast and produces enough light to illuminate 7.5 acres. The 360-degree tower rotation provides precise and easy light positioning.
Since its establishment in 1966 with the introduction of the Genie Hoist, a portable, pneumatic material lift, Gene Industries has grown in stature to become globally recognised for its material lifts and aerial work platforms. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington in the US, the company remains at the forefront of innovative design and quality production with its lifts being widely used on construction and industrial sites around the world.
Genie Industries will be part of the contingent within the UK pavilion (stand 2C 50).
