The Big 5

Brand building

Mechanical bending machines ... makes bar-bending easier.

Turkish manufacturer Gocmaksan (GMS) will be launching its new range of hydraulic and mechanic steel cutting machines and mechanic steel bending machines on the Middle East market when it makes its debut at the Big 5 show this year.

“As the Big 5 is the largest construction event in the Middle East, we felt we need to be here to penetrate the Gulf market, which is a new market for us,” says Tugba Kucuksakal, export manager of the company.
“Our mission is to create awareness of our brand name among construction companies all over the Gulf, our main focus being on Dubai, Qatar and Kuwait,” she adds.
Besides participating at the Big 5 show, GMS is also planning to establish a new office and store in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai next year to cater to the requirements of the region, says Kucuksakal.
As the leading manufacturer of construction steel cutting and bending machines and hand tools, GMS holds the lion’s share of its domestic market – 70 per cent. In addition, it has been making significant inroads into the export arena.
“Our company has seen a 55 per cent increase in our export figures this year,” she says.
To keep pace with the demand for its products, GMS has recently expanded its production capacity with the opening of a new 8,000 sq m factory in Ankara, Turkey.
Established in 1960, GMS started its activities by manufacturing and repairing simple tools used in the construction sector.  The turning point in its history came in 1978 when it decided to manufacture the first electric-driven machines for cutting and bending structural steel. Its cutting and bending machinery were initially the monotype and capacity following the testing of prototype production, but over the years has evolved to production of different types and capacities in line with customer requirements. Since then, GMS has continued to focus solely on producing construction steel (rebar) cutting and bending machinery. It is its whole-hearted dedication to this key sector that has helped the company to attain a high standard of professionalism.
With its head office and factory at Ankara and a branch office in Istanbul, the company has the capacity to manufacture around 4,000 machines per year that are primarily used in the growing construction sector within Turkey as well as abroad. The company’s extensive product range includes hydraulic cutters, mechanical cutters, digital bending, mechanical bending, mat bending and spiral bending machines and various hand tools.
GMS remains a frontrunner in its field renowned for its technological innovations.   An ISO 9001: 2000 certified company GMS provides installation and training services to customers as well as after-sales maintenance service.
GMS will be present at Hall 7 – B310 at the Big 5.
