The Big 5

Strong return

Four Seasons Sharm Al Sheikh ... one of Techno Marble’s projects in Egypt.

The high turnout and quality of visitors to its stand at the Big 5 has brought back Egyptian manufacturer and supplier of marble and granite products Techno Marble to the region’s largest construction event with its new range of finished marble products.

The company, which is targeting the Middle East markets in general and the Iranian market in particular, is optimistic about making further gains this year after its success at previous editions of the trade show.
Enthused by the response it has received in the region, Techno Marble plans to establish new offices in Qatar and Dubai to satisfy the increasing demand for its products.
“We have had a very good response at the previous Big 5 shows with a large number of quality visitors and potential clients who visited our stand and showed keen interest in our products, “ says Mahmoud Fathy, export officer of the company. “We intend to target new clients in different countries across the GCC, maintain contact with our existing clients and keep abreast of current trends in the industry through our participation at the show.”
Fathy, however, laments the difficulty of arranging hotel accommodation in Dubai for the event, as most of the hotels in the emirate are full up during the season.
Established in 1994 in Giza, Egypt, Techno Marble is a medium-sized company staffed by around 55 labourers and 20 skilled workers. It offers a wide range of marble and granite products in the form of blocks, slabs (polished, semi-polished and unpolished as well as brushed and bush-hammered), tiles, vanity tops and special works for interiors and exteriors such as kitchen countertops, fireplaces, fountains and tombs. Per month, the company has the capacity to saw 32,000 sq m of marble slabs, polish of 6,000 sq m of marble slabs and process 5,500 sq m of marble and granite tiles and 220 standard vanity tops.
Commenting on business, Fathy says: “We have done remarkably well this year with a 20 per cent growth in business, especially in catering to the building and construction sector. Our growth has been so encouraging that we are planning to open a new factory in Egypt.”
Besides a large number of projects in its home market, the company has undertaken in the GCC, include two administration buildings in Sharjah in the UAE and 24 villas in Bahrain.
Techno Marble exports marble and granite blocks, slabs and tiles around the globe, with Italy being the main market. In addition, it is the main distributor in Egypt for many well-renowned Italian companies.
“We see ourselves as having huge potential in exporting Egyptian marble for a range of construction projects around the globe, with the Gulf showing excellent potential in the short term. Qatar seems to be the main market in the region right now with a large number of projects in both the private and public sectors,” Fathy comments.
Techno Marble will be present at stand SH D540 at the show.
