The Big 5

Versatile systems

The Ordena series ... for partition walls and walk-in closets.

Swiss hardware specialist Hawa will once again make its presence felt at the Big 5 show this year while presenting its versatile range of sliding technology hardware for furniture and interiors.

Products in the spotlight at its stand at this year’s edition will include Hawa-Ordena 70 hardware systems for partition walls and walk-in closets, Hawa Aperto for lightweight sliding walls made of wood and glass and Hawa-Media 70 for curved doors, along with other popular and established brands.
“We are looking forward to establishing direct contact with local business partners at the Big 5 show,” says a spokesperson for the company. “We plan to present our top-of-the-line sliding hardware solutions for interiors in glazing and metalwork and wood constructions and a range of furniture to contractors, interior designers, specifiers, architects and consulting engineers from all over the world at the event.”
Hawa’s sliding range is renowned for being trendy and for optimising space utilisation while offering unconventional options for designing floor plans and interior furnishings, she says.
“We have expanded our product line for structurally-independent solutions and these will be promoted at the show. The solutions include the Hawa-Ordena 70, a new frameless sliding hardware system for walk-in closets and floor-to-ceiling room dividers. It can be used with wood, glass or mixed-material door panels and blends with virtually any setting, ranging from the traditional to the avant-garde – even as a retrofit installation,” she adds.
Also part of the brand promotion campaign at the show is the Hawa Aperto product range, which will include the Aperto 50/GL and 50/H systems that are adept at stacking glass and wood partition walls with panel weights up to 50 kg, and present a flush front when closed.
“They makes flexible space utilisation in private and public areas easy,” the spokesperson points out.
The Hawa Media 70, which will be showcased at the Big 5, is designed for curved sliding doors and is the first choice for doors weighing up to 70 kg, with a minimum radius of 500 mm. This tried-and-tested sliding door hardware system facilitates the use of a variety of architectural solutions for the interior decor of shops, trade fairs and exhibitions.
“Sliding doors equipped with Hawa-Media 70 hold aesthetic appeal for the eye of the beholder. This apart, the interior designer and the end-user alike will appreciate its running properties – thanks to plastic-coated ball-bearing rollers and rattle-proof floor guides – just as much as its easy assembly,” she says.
The top tracks are delivered pre-curved and predrilled ready for assembly, and lateral door alignment is easy once the tracks have been mounted to wall or ceiling.
Founded in 1965 in Mettmenstetten in Switzerland, Hawa is an ISO 9001:2002-certified company that has established a reputation for its high-quality sliding solutions. With a workforce of around 110 employees, the company has around 60 patents worldwide and around 80 per cent of its products are exported to countries around the globe.
With its subsidiary Hawa Middle East – which was established in Jebel Ali, Dubai, last year – and its participation at the Big 5 at stand A 123 in Hall 3, the company hopes to break into new ground in the GCC and other regional markets.
