Jotun, which has just opened a state-of-the-art factory in the Al Quoz industrial area of Dubai, has supplied its products to a string of prestigious projects in the emirate over the past year.
These include the Madinat Jumeirah, the Festival City, Al Murooj Complex, the Autodrome and the Higher College of Technology.
Jotun’s colours provide a decorative touch to all three phases of the Madinat Jumeirah project, a majestic resort comprising two five-star hotels, 29 authentically-designed Arabian villas, a convention centre, a health spa and the suq area. Jotun has widely used its Jotashield Heritage and decorative techniques throughout the prestigious development.
Jotashield Heritage already protects a number of prominent buildings and heritage projects in the UAE and the other Gulf states. The product, which meets a long-felt need in the region for a formulation which can emulate a traditional look, is designed as a 100 per cent pure acrylic exterior protection that produces a durable, elegantly-aged effect, says Niru Naik, brand manager of Jotun UAE.
A variety of other Jotun sytems are currently being applied to a new landmark, which is nearing completion off Sheikh Zayed Road. The Al Murooj Complex – which comprises a 14-storey hotel tower and eight low-rise 12-storey residential towers – will feature Jotun’s Stucco Antica, semi-epoxy Texotile, full-epoxy Texotile system and Fenomastic emulsion systems.
Meanwhile, Jotun’s Stucco Antica as well as Gardex lead-free enamel systems are decorating the interiors and the Semi Epoxy Texotile system is protecting the exterior of the newly-inaugurated Dubai Autodrome against the harsh environmental conditions. The client is Union Properties.
For the Festival City – which is described as a waterfront ‘city-within-a-city’ being built on the banks of Dubai Creek – Jotun has applied Jotashield Tex Fine system to protect the external areas under phase one of the project.
Other projects Jotun has in hand include:
- The central prison, being developed by Dubai Police. Jotun’s protective and decorative finishes, as well as epoxy and emulsion finishes are being used for the project; and
- Al Ghurair Gold Refinery, where Jotashield Heritage System is being applied on the external walls.
Some of the recently-completed projects that Jotun supplied its products include:
- The Greens: The company’s Jotashield Tex Ultra and JS top coat silk system are applied for the external areas of 41 buildings at the Emaar project;
- The Higher College of Technology, where the full epoxy Texotile and Gardex lead-free enamel systems have been applied;
- Emaar villa projects including Emirates Lakes, Emirates Hills, Meadows, Zulal, Springs. Here, approximately 3,000 villas have been protected with Jotun’s Profile Intricate System, which has been applied on the external areas;
- The Dubai International Convention Centre, where the IMF, World Bank 2003 annual general meetings were held last September; and,
- Aweer vegetable and fruit market, where Jotun’s semi-epoxy Texotile system was the main coating system used.
