Canada-based Aluma Systems is currently providing table forms for two projects at The Residences coming up at the Burj Dubai development.
It is supplying the systems to Robodh Contracting, the subcontractor on two tower blocks (W2 and W3) as well as to Hamed Development and Construction, the subcontractor for an additional two towers (E1 and E2). The main contractor on both the projects is Nasa Multiplex. Robodh Contracting is currently working on its two towers while the other project is expected to start within two months, according to Terry Taylor, Aluma Systems manager Europe and Middle East.
In addition to the towers at The Residences, Aluma Systems has recently become involved with Robodh Contracting Company in the construction of the hotel and serviced apartments (HSA) building of Meridien Hotel.
“As a result of time delays, the previous contractor was replaced. In order to make up for the delays, Robodh insisted the forming equipment on site be replaced by Alumalite table forms,” states Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the company.
Aluma systems were also used on a 45-storey residential towers in the Marina.
Rogers claims: “Work on the residential tower using Aluma Systems proceeded at the rate of one floor every four days, thanks to the use of aluminum in the company’s Alumalite table forms. The lighter weight means cranes can lift more forms with each load than would be possible with steel forms.”
Aluma Systems also provided table forms in the construction of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
