Aco's drainage systems.

ACO International, a world leader in the manufacture and supply of corrosion-resistant external and internal polymer concrete and stainless steel surface drainage systems and a wastewater engineering specialist, has opened an office in Dubai at the end of last month.

The decision to establish an ACO International Office to be based in the Dubai Airport Free zone was taken late last year,  following ACO’s successful participation for the tenth consecutive year at the Big 5 Show in Dubai.
“The new office will serve as a valuable asset in assisting our regional distributors by offering faster response times and improved services to them and their customers,” says Keith Lambourne, regional director of ACO International.
“The ACO International Dubai office will not only support the existing distributors and grow their business in the area but also make the region aware of product ranges that the company can offer in addition to its traditional polymer concrete and stainless steel surface drainage systems,” he says.
ACO plans to launch innovative systems that will allow for easier management of run-off water.
ACO systems are used in projects where the treatment of water and the removal or containment of surface liquids is paramount, says Lambourne.
ACO’s new biological, chemical and mechanical wastewater treatment system protects the environment by the separation of organic oils and fats from wastewater, using either a biological process or alternatively by flotation, filtration or sedimentation, he says.
Also being introduced is the ACO Biocompact units designed for the purification and nitrification of domestic wastewater from houses, small workshops, apartment buildings, office buildings and hotels.
ACO Guss produces quality cast and ductile iron products, the most popular being the Passavant range of manhole covers, as well as a variety of penstocks. Completing the package of new products being offered into the market are various sizes of stainless steel and polyethylene free-standing and ground-installed grease separators, stainless steel pipe work systems and ground-installed concrete petrol separators.
Lambourne has been active with the company in the Middle East for more than 14 years and has installed a network of distributors in the region who have worked hard to promote and establish the ACO brand in their markets.
He adds: “With the establishment of the ACO International Dubai office and the introduction of the new systems, ACO will be able to become more proactive in the Middle East which will bring significant benefits not only to ACO but to our much valued distributors and their customers.”
ACO has supplied its drainage systems to many prestigious projects in the Gulf including the Conference Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi, the Royal Flight hangars and Ibra Hospital in Oman, the Dubal aluminium plant, Dubai, the Awahi Palace, Bahrain, Al Faisal Tower and Weil Medical College in Doha, Qatar, the Fahaheel waterfront project in Kuwait and several other contracts in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Lebanon.
“ACO has also won two major high-profile projects outside the Gulf region, one being the Formula One Circuit in Shanghai, China; and the other in Greece for the 2004 Athens Olympic Stadium – both of which have been supplied with ACO polymer concrete surface drainage systems,” says Lambourne.
