A Dammam-based company, which has produced what is claimed to be the world's first water filter with an in-built sound alarm, is to stage the international launch of the 'Made In Saudi' product at the Big 5 show.
The ultra-violet sterilising filter, which sounds an alarm when the filter needs replacing, has been developed in-house by Water and Environmental Systems.
"The project was designed by one of our employees, an award-winning Turkish engineer," explains Hamad Al Ammari, president, Water and Environmental Systems. "We are now planning to invest up to $1.6 million in new production facilities to meet anticipated demand from throughout the GCC and Africa."
The product's international debut at the Big 5 is aimed at launching it on a sales path projected to reach $8.2 million by 2005.
"We are looking to make contacts in Dubai which will see the product re-exported to South Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Africa," says Al Ammari.
