Saudi  Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the successful completion of the technical and financial evaluation for  Hadda and Arana Independent Sewage Treatment Plant Projects which will boast a total capacity of 750,000 cu m.

These two projects will be implemented under a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model with private sector participation, said the Saudi utility in a statement.

The Arana ISTP on completion will have a 500,000 cu m/day capacity, while the Hadda ISTP will have 250,000 cu m/day cpapacity.

For the Arana ISTP Project, a consortium led by Saudi group Miahona with key partners Marafiq and Buhur for Investment Company was selected as the preferred bidder for its competitive cost and consortium led by Metito Utilities Limited Company as the reserved bidder.  For the Hadda ISTP Project, a consortium led by Metito with Etihad Water and Electricity Company and SkyBridge Limited Company was selected as the preferred bidder and Miahona’s consortium as the reserved bidder.

In another development, SWPC has announced the results of the ‘Second Edition of the Pre-Qualification Program’ which was re-opened in March last year.

The program attracted over 60 interested developers aiming to be qualified for SWPC’s upcoming projects. The list includes major global players including Acciona Agua, Cobra and GS Inima Environment; regional heavyweights Acwa Power, Alghanim International, Lamar Holding, Orascom Construction and Gulf Investment Corporation; as well as local players Alfanar, Al Kharafi & Sons, Nesma, Buhur and Al Bawani Capital Company.

This initiative is aimed at providing the private sector with sufficient time to form consortia, thereby enhancing competition for SWPC’s future projects.
